Asuna (6 KP) rated Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in Books

The magic starts here
I can't remember when I started reading Harry Potter, but this book started a lifelong love of reading. Even rereading this story as an adult, the magic is still there from the beginning to the end.

3.5 stars.
I liked this and it going back into the world of Wingman Inc--I still remember and love Ian--but I didn't end up enjoying it as much as the previous books.
I can't help wondering if Leo, Slater and Finn will end up with their own books. I'd love to see them fall for a special someone.

David McK (3425 KP) rated Firestorm (Weather Warden, #5) in Books
Jan 30, 2019
I quite enjoyed the first Weather Warden book ("Ill Wind").
The second ("Heat Stroke") was even better
Unfortunately, the third, and then the fourth ("Chill Factor" and "Windfall", respectively) were a bit of a let-down.
Thankfully, this is a return to form: picking up almost exactly from the end of "Windfall", this is faster-moving than it's predecessor, more engaging and more action-packed.
R.E.M. sang it best: "It's the end of the world as we know it ..." (even if, for some inscrutable reason, that track is missing from the authors' own suggestion of what to listen to while reading)
