Great characters and interactions (1 more)
Very gritty and realistic look at the last days of World War II
Fury is a powerful and raw World War II story about a tank unit fighting to survive while pushing through Germany doing the tall end of the war
All the main characters do a great job strong action character moments and just powerful imagery throughout

More experimental sound from U2 and very different from Rattle and Hum before it. (1 more)
'One' "Mysterious Ways' 'Until the End of the World - brilliant.
When this first came out, I preferred the earlier stuff, but over the years of listening to it, I think it's cracking!

Set near the end of World War 2. Focuses on a preteen boy and his younger sister and their plight for survival. Fairly bleak movie but gets the point across about the horrors of war and how it doesn't just effect soldiers, but civilians as well.

Another enjoyable ride through the almost-end-of-the-world. Each time I listen i realize how much more I like the rebuilding process, rather than the parts that follow the great coming together of each side. Seeing how the different people handle the major change in their lives is always my favorite part of this book.

This book is the third standalone set in the world of the First Law trilogy and sees farm girl Shy (with a dark secret history) and her 9-fingered step-father return from market to find their farm burned and Shy's siblings abducted.
They duly follow the trail of the kidnappers and end up embroiled in a journey through the "wild west" of this world with groups of travellers seeking their fortune and without exception ending destitute in grubby town Crease.
A number of familiar faces (or hands) return in this book, as well as a number of new characters. I didn't really like the western setting, being totally incongruous with the rest of the books set in the same world, and the mysticism implied near the end was not very well explored (a similar gripe about the first trilogy).
A good read, but really for completists, not to be read as a standalone book.

The Black Chalice (Revelations 1)
By Lauretta Hignett
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A cursed woman, destined to bring about the apocalypse. The obsessed zealot, determined to hunt and kill her.
And the demon who wants to save her.
It's the end of the world, but not as we know it.
Well that was different! I liked the concept the characters were actually likeable. Eve is definitely a breath of fresh air when it comes to female leads she’s funny without it being forced and her outlook on life is awesome. What’s more complicated than the end of the world? Throw a love that can never be in maybe.

The end of his book is just where it gets good and you start learning the real juicy stuff about the situation.
The world building is a little repetitive, there is economic crisis between the App World and the Real World. It’s interesting to see someone’s perspective in having a body for the first time. I’ve read sci-fi done better, but I’m excied to see where this rebellion goes.

This book is one of the most beautifully written books I have ever read! The story is a haunting tale of what the end of the world might actually look like. The relationship between the father and son is heartbreaking and sweet. I cried so many times reading this book. You should definitely add this book to your list of must reads!
