David McK (3207 KP) rated Sword of Kings in Books
Oct 27, 2019
The latest (at the time of writing) in Bernard Cornwell's series of books about the making of England, and we're now a lifetime on from Alfred (the Great's) death, with Alfred himself being a key player in those earlier books.
However, Uhtred is still tied to Alfred's family by various oaths he has made over the years, with one such oath causing him to leave his (reclaimed) homeland of Northumbria, and in particular Bebbanburg, and travel south in an attempt to fulfil that oath.
With large portions of this novel set mainly in and around London (or Lundene), this felt to me somewhat like a bridging novel, setting up the future status quo and laying seeds from what is still to come (the unification of England)

Cori June (3033 KP) rated Empire of Ivory (Temeraire #4) in Books
Nov 4, 2019
Poor Laurence and Temeraire are in the thick of it again. this amazing story that deals with loyalty and betrayal will make you think and examine everything you thought you knew. I love how turn of the century England is portrayed. And we get to see more angry Laurence. Africa will hold many surprises and hopefully a cure.

With a style that floats like a cloud in the spring sky, Ondaatje brings us yet another beautiful piece of writing. The story of a boy traveling by ship from Sri Lanka to England. The Chocolate Lady (94 KP) rated The Storied Life of AJ Fikry in Books
Oct 5, 2020
The curmudgeonly A.J Fikry is an unlikely character to own the only bookstore on a New England island, but all that begins to change when someone leaves a 25-month-old baby girl in his store. Kate (355 KP) rated Making the Cut - Season 1 in TV

Watchable but not binge worthy
This in Amazon Prime and they do continually plug this through the episodes which comes out weekly so the whole series is not out yet. Not sure which came first this one or an English version on Netflix called Next in Fashion (already reviewed) but this one is not as good. In case England have the better show.
