Shakespeare can be a challenge for anyone to read and understand and this book fits in with most readers in enabling us all to get an understanding of the basic story before attempting the more challenging 16th Century English. In this version of Macbeth, the author has retold the story in an easily accessible way that will allow all ages to follow along. Illustrated throughout, the plot is covered with parts of the dialogue showing the original language, introducing that element of Shakespeare to the reader. For me, this book will be perfect for introducing my daughter to the themes in Shakespeare before she is ready to challenge the language, I great idea well presented.

Black comedy wrapped in body horror
I love body horror. I always have. And I like Jeff Strand. He's funny and articulate, and his stories pack a hell of a punch. Benjamin's Parasite is no different. Benjamin, an unassuming English teacher, is infected by a parasite that both ravages his body and makes him want to do Bad Things. He's kidnapped by Julie, a beautiful but inept bounty hunter, as they're tracked across the country by people who want the specimen back.

Imagine Nick Cutter's "The Troop" if it was written by Simon Pegg. This is a really fun read, and I recommend it to anyone who isn't too squeamish and loves a good horror comedy.

A Romantic drama that seems to have been missed by most. Jennifer Love Hewitt and a few familiar English faces pop up in this. Set in London a man gets to relive a day in which things didn't work out between him and his girlfriend before she is in an accident. Will he be able to change the path of destiny and save her second time round? Quite similar but not quite as good as Sliding doors, which had the same type of plot and also set in London. If you like romantic films which deal with fate and destiny you will like this. Don't mistake it for a Rom-Com though, not much to laugh at here.

This is one of those books that I feel like everyone reads in high school but my English teacher never had us read it. I will admit that I have been interested in reading it ever since I saw Easy A starring Emma Stone (Such a fun movie). I found myself really enjoying the story. It was deeper than I anticipated, and I loved the language and characters, especially Hester and Pearl. My only real struggle with the book was the first two hours were the author rambling before the story even started! But this book also gets bonus points because Hawthorne was friends with Ralph Waldo Emerson, a writer and transcendentalist, who I was named after.
