ArecRain (8 KP) rated Touch the Dark (Cassandra Palmer, #1) in Books
Jan 18, 2018
I would like to thank Karen Chance for letting me fall in love with paranormal romance again. Its very rare for me to find a paranormal romance series that I love in the never ending shelves filled with them. Among them are Kresley Cole, Gena Showwalter, Jeaniene Frost, Patricia Briggs, Lynn Viehl and now Karen Chance.
I brought this book on a 13 hour car ride, not expecting much, just words to fill the time. It was about halfway through when I realized what a gem I really had. The plot was fascinating, the world was so involved and though out, and the characters were just as interesting as the world they were involved in. I would like to thank Karen Chance once more for not making her heroine, Cassandra, so independent that it made me want to gag. Cassandra knew when she needed help and that she wasnt going to survive on her own. Of course, Cassandra has an awesome power that makes her wanted by multiple races. I can forgive that stereotypical plot aspect since Cassandra is not the most power creature to ever exist in the world nor is the only one to have had or will have such power.
But, dear Chance, did you really have to throw in such an erotic scene when I am sitting in the car with my family? I was not expecting anything so steamy from this book that I actually had to put the book down for a moment.
This was one of those novels that made me depressed when I finished it, for the sheer fact that it was over. I immediately turned to my phone to see if there were any more. When I found out it was a series, I ordered every single one.

ArecRain (8 KP) rated Snow's Surrender (A Snow White Werewolf Tale, #3) in Books
Jan 18, 2018
Since this is the third in the series and emphasizes the story from previous two, I will include my original review.
This is supposed to be a Snow White retelling but I really couldnt see it. Regardless, its an erotic fairytale retelling which is right up my alley. Its heavy on the erotica while still having enough plot to push the story forward. Normally I would be aggravated that this story is divided into three parts but I knew that going in and already had the rest of the story so I didnt have to wait for the rest.
I love friends to lovers stories, especially childhood friends. I would like to say I enjoyed the premise to this story but honestly I thought it was stupid. I wish I had better word but there it is. Now you may be saying but you knew that going in! Honestly, I was hoping it was going to be a ménage. I guess it was just wishful thinking, because what I got instead was the age old hey let me ask my male friend how to seduce this other male but wait my friend wants me trope.
The final in the series is everything you need and more. Even from someone who is bitter that this wasnt the ménage she was looking for. I couldnt have been happier with the ending if I wrote it myself. That being said, there were still many things I was aggravated with. There were few ties to Snow White, little shifter elements, and the story was split in three when it could have easily been one whole story.
Overall, the story was enjoyable if you are looking for a friends-to-lovers erotica.

JT (287 KP) rated Chloe (2010) in Movies
Mar 10, 2020
As sexual thrillers go this is hardly up there with the best of them, in fact it boarder lines on B-movie soft porn. Director Atom Egoyan is no stranger to this type of erotic genre having previously helmed such films as Exotica and Where The Truth Lies. But this latest turn lacked something in the plot and it just seemed to fall at the last hurdle.
With three exceptional acting talents, more so from Seyfried whose role in this as the sexy femme fatal is a far cry from Mamma Mia. For Moore it was a role that may have caused much whispering in Hollywood if anything for the lesbian clinch mid way through.
From the outset it looks as if we are going to be in for a great little thriller. Moore’s Catherine is desperate to find out if her husband (Neeson) is as honest as he says he is. But she is apparently drawn into Chloe’s sexual tales and meets up with her on countless occasions to have the events graphically recited back to her like some x-rated book club.
This is where the film seems to lack the tension that we might have been hoping for, with the exception of maybe a little flurry at the end. It never really digs its nails underneath the skin and claws at us, we hope that it will arrive at some point but alas it never does. The ending is disappointing.
However, Seyfried’s sheer beauty is not for question, she is curvaceous and captivating and her scenes with Moore are extremely sensuous, one in particular will make you sit bolt up right in your seat.
At the end of it all you’ll walk away flustered, but it certainly won’t be from the gripping suspense.

Take Me (The Untouchables, #1)
Book
From a USA TODAY Bestselling Author comes the first book in the suspenseful, erotic romance series:...
I didn't like this book even though it is a genre I would read. There wasn't much of a story line. I understand the genre was erotic/romance so I knew the content but there was more sex then anything else. It was every few pages or so.
The first couple of chapters seemed promising then the story seemed to drag on with the main character sleeping with the 2 brothers because she couldn't decide what one she liked the most. There was so much sex that the story couldn't really develop.
As I said I would normally read this genre but I also like a book to have a story line . There was less sex in 50 shades of grey than this book.
I got bored very quickly but stuck with it. But I will admit it was difficult.
I thought the main character had come to a decision but towards the end of the book she seemed to have changed her mind again. I wanted to shout to her to just pick one or neither of them.
I believe I was the correct audience - female in her 30s.
I definitely expected more of a story to the book.
There are more books in the series but I will not be reading them. The book ended with the brother Vanessa picked going to Japan for work for 3 months and the other brother staying behind and spending time with Vanessa. The blurb to the new book even said she is back spending time with the other brother and will she go back there.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author via Voracious Readers Only.
