Snow White , Blood Red (Fairy tale anthology book 1)
Edited by Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling
⭐️⭐️⭐️

Exploring the darker side of popular fairy tales, this anthology features dark and erotic tales of trolls and ogres, bewitched princesses, and magical kingdoms.

There were a few I picked out that I liked and I found a few new authors to try.

The Frog Prince by Gahan Wilson - Really enjoyed this it was a strange little story very Alice in Wonderland feel.

Stalking Beans by Nancy Kress - This is definitely a different adult spin on Jack and the beanstalk!

Snow Drop by Tabitha Lee - This was my favourite by far. A dark twisty version of Snow White and her step mother very dark.

Little Red by Wendy Wheeler - This gave me creepy shivers. Very well written unfortunately I can’t find anything by this author!

The Root of the Matter by Gregory Frost - This is a very adult version of Repunzel kinda dark and to the point.

The Changelings by Melanie Tem - Strange little story with some very sad undertones.

Troll Bridge by Neil Gaiman - I love Neil Gaiman he has such a unique storytelling ability and this did not disappoint!

Overall it was a good little anthology!

Great, strong, teen female role model (2 more)
Fresh take on the fairy tales

I couldn't put this book down.
I wish this book had been around 10 years ago. It is so rare to find a book with such a strong teen female lead that doesn't end up completely centred around teen love/lust. I loved Briar rabbit and the writing was compelling enough to bring me to tears at the more intense parts of the story. It's a great read that I couldn't put down.

Okay so first of all I'm a nut for good quotations & I feel the need to say this book is FULL of them!! This is going to sound mean but I was pleasantly surprised with what a great author Chris Colfer is. He did a wonderful job putting a new spin on many of the classic fairy tales we all grew up with, without changing them completely. Alex & Conner are fascinating may layered characters. I can't wait to get this book into the hands of a few of the kids in my classroom, they are going to love it!

The best Disney Pixar franchise ever
I love this film, and I'm not afraid to admit it. It's beautiful, heartwarming and utterly amusing to watch. I still remember seeing it the first time and being completely mesmerised by the new style graphics. And the story was an update from the usual Brothers Grimm fairy tales , modernised for its young viewers living in the 1990s. Woody and Buzz have the best partnership on screen, and it's one of those rare trilogies where every single film was brilliant. Massive kudos to Disney Pixar.

Join Jack, May, and Phillip as they journey through this alternative take on fairy tales. All the characters you know are here, and help or keep our trio from completing their quest to save their kingdom from an evil plot.

All three books in the series are in this set, and they are all compelling reads. You'll want to read them all back to back. There's action, great characters, plot twists, and sarcasm. You can't go wrong.
