David McK (3721 KP) rated Sourcery: Discworld: The Unseen University Collection in Books
Nov 27, 2022
At this point the series was still very much in its infancy; very much still a parody of classic 'Sword and Sorcery' (especially where Rincewind is concerned) instead of the exploration of the human character it would later become.
Everybody has their own favourite 'subseries' of Discworld novels - The Witches, Stand-alones, Industrial Revolution, City Guards, Death - for me, personally, the Rincewind series has also fallen towards the bottom of that ranking (although they do get better around about the time of Interesting Times).
Having said that, it's still interesting to see the beginnings of Pratchett's evolution of the Discworld here - like any great symphony, they all need to start somewhere!
Bethr1986 (305 KP) rated For Better or For Worse (Deathly Beloved #2) in Books
Oct 28, 2022
This is the second book in the Deathly Beloved series and I absolutely love it! There are so many emotions whirling around that I felt like I was on a roller coaster.
I have fallen in love with the main characters. I really hope that Richard and Arienna have a smooth-ish ride from here on out (probably not too smooth as she does enjoy her punishments!) I also highly hope Jace gets the love he deserves and can work through his feelings that he has bottled up inside!
I really can't rate this series high enough. Miranda is a fantastic writer in whatever she turns her hand to!
I'm ready for the next one Miranda!

David McK (3721 KP) rated Jurassic World: Rebirth (2025) in Movies
Aug 3, 2025 (Updated Aug 3, 2025)
IF I was to rate all 7, probably be something like:
Superb (Jurassic Park), Very Good (The Lost World), Good (Jurassic Park 3), Very good (Jurassic World), OK (Fallen Kingdom), Poor (Dominion), Good (Rebirth).
Basically, every 4th film almost seems to 'reset' the franchise as a whole, with the next 2 films increasing poor until the next reset.
This one, then, clearly takes its inspiration from the original: while Dinosaurs are now part of the ecology of the planet, the majority of this takes place on a remote island where they are able to roam free and from where the heroes of the piece spend most of their time trying to escape.
