TravelersWife4Life (31 KP) rated Oath of the Brotherhood (Song of Seare #1) in Books

This book was fantastic in its complexity. I have never read a book by Carla Laureano before, even though I know she is a well-known Christian Fiction romance author. I just have not picked up her books. Now I am definitely going back and reading them. In this fantasy novel, I found so much depth, intrigue, and growth. The characters were very well laid out, had fantastic arcs, and the first part of the story was told from a male POV, which I had never read before.
The world in which Carla Laureano immersed me was like no other. I loved the Isle of Seare and how it was intricately built through the pages, and I liked the different cultures of the four different kingdoms. I for one have always been fascinated by our faith in a theological sense and I loved how Carla Laureano wove different aspects of it into this story. It added a touch of realism that was interesting.
Overall, this book was one fantastic read that left me breathless with wanting more (bring on the next book soon please!), had some twists I did not see coming and filled me with a sense of wonder. I definitely recommend putting this one on your soon to be read list. 4 out of 5 stars!
*I volunteered to read this book in return for my honest feedback. The thoughts and opinions expressed within are my own.

Fantastic
The Hero
Libby Hall never really wanted to be noticed. But after she saves the children in her care from a fire, she finds herself headline news. And horrified by the attention. It all reminds her of what happened nine years ago. The last time she saw her best friend alive.
The Swap
Which is why the house swap is such a godsend. Libby and her husband Jamie exchange their flat in Bath for a beautiful, secluded house in Cornwall. It's a chance to heal their marriage - to stop its secrets tearing them apart.
The Hideaway
But this stylish Cornish home isn't the getaway they'd hoped for. They make odd, even disturbing, discoveries in the house. It's so isolated-yet Libby doesn't feel entirely alone. As if she's being watched.
Is Libby being paranoid? What is her husband hiding? And. As the secrets and lies come tumbling out, is the past about to catch up with them?
This was utterly fantastic I loved every page!

Viggo Mortensen and fabulous acting all round (1 more)
Great heartwarming story
The captain is genuinely fantastic
Viggo Mortensen is truly Captain Fantastic in this quirky, indie film about bringing up six children in the wilderness. Isolated from society, he devotes his existence to raising his kids - educating them to think critically, training them to be physically fit and athletic, guiding them in the wild without technology and demonstrating the beauty of co-existing with nature. That's before his wife suddenly dies, and the family journey together out in the real world for her funeral. It raises a lot of thoughtful questions such as is it good to socially isolate children, especially if they can't fit in the future? Or is it better to keep them away from a consumerist, dumbed down society? Interesting, thought-provoking, like an intelligent version of Little Miss Sunshine.

Fantastic choice of games
Fun to play
It's Currently in its prime!
If you don't own a Nintendo Switch, now is the time to buy! The Switch is currently in its prime. There are so many titles to choose from with more great games on the way, I am constantly torn between which games to buy. Nobody makes games like Nintendo, they're just fantastic and their innovation just keeps surprising me, recently with it's Labo sets (especially Labo VR). The Switch does not disappoint (other than the screen not being 1080p - the quality is still good tho) and the fact its portable and you can pick it up and take it with you is brilliant. The Switch is what the Wii U should have been, the Switch has got it right and I am very pleased with what it has achieved so far.

Low cost (2 more)
Fantastic community
Unique decks
A refreshing take on card games
Keyforge is a fantastic Unique Card Game that has provided me hours of fun, tight games for a fraction of the price of other TCGs, CCGs and LCGs. Yes, you might "waste" your money on a deck that hasn't got the gear to compete, but for the price of a middling MTG standard deck, you can buy 10 Keyforge decks. Even when you get a deck that isn't as competitive as others, there are formats that actively encourage players to bring their worst decks, such as reversal. As an avid card gamer, Keyforge really feels like a massive improvement on the already established card games like MTG and Yu-Gi-Oh! that have the biggest market share. If you want to play a card game tha doesn't leave you in debt or take up all your spare time, Keyforge is perfect.

Another great, suspenseful novel from Stephen King!
I always get excited when a new Stephen King novel comes out, and this was no exception.
A boy is horribly murdered, mutilated and sexually assaulted, and a man is very publicly arrested - it's obvious to the police that he is the perpetrator. Lots of people saw him: from picking up the boy, to being seen after the act, covered in blood. Of course, this is Stephen King, so it's not that simple.
The characters are fantastic - easy to relate to, and Detective Ralph Anderson is especially good (in my opinion). I do like a man who can admit they're wrong and then actually DO something to rectify their mistakes.
What I like about King, is how he can make the supernatural seem so, well, natural. It all seems perfectly plausible, which makes it all the more terrifying.
Another fantastic novel from King, and I would highly recommend it!

After seeing the first preview for this film, I wasn't sure I wanted to see it, but every preview improved, and I began anticipating it. I went to the first showing I could on the day it released because I was so hyped.
I am not a rom-com movie person at all, so I was hoping I didn't end up completely hating it. BUT, it was the right combination of rom and com. All of the actors/actresses were fantastic, Constance Wu was hilarious, and now I want to see Awkwafina in as many films as possible. Gemma Chan was also really fantastic in this. Henry Golding is nice to look at, and for it being his first acting role, he did great.
The story was quickly-paced, and it didn't feel like a two hour movie. The visuals were beautiful, and I'd definitely go see it again. It may be one of my favorite movies to come out this summer.
