Emma @ The Movies (1786 KP) rated Girls Trip (2017) in Movies

I love films like this next one. Girls Trip looked like so much fun every time I saw I clip that it was definitely going to be on the list. So here's the Red Band trailer for you...
The Flossy Posse haven't seen each other for five years, somewhere along the way, life happened. But that's about to change. Ryan Pierce is the keynote speaker at this year's Essence Music Festival, and she's getting the gang back together for a long overdue reunion.
While Ryan has great things to look forward to in her career, everything isn't all smooth sailing, and the same goes for the others, although no one wants to admit it. Can they find their old spark again and set themselves on the right path before the partying ends?..
This film made me sad... oh, it wasn't a sad movie, it made me sad that I've never had a group of girls to dance off with. These four lovely ladies really worked well off each other. And hey, if you fancy setting the internet trolls off... I think they would make an excellent front line for the next Ghostbusters movie. Just saying.
Seriously though, this film was really funny. You'll laugh, you'll cringe, and you'll do it along to some fantastic music.

Wonderfully dark fun
I went into this film not even having seen the trailer, instead going in blind based on having read some favourable reviews. And I can say that I was very pleasantly surprised.
This is a rather wonderful and fun horror, with a lot of laughs, a bit of gore and some marvellous dark comedy. This really doesn’t take itself too seriously and it’s all the better for it, some of the best scenes in this are of the family bickering between each other. That’s not to say the darker and more thrilling scenes in the film aren’t good, because they are. It’s rather tense watching Grace try and escape and her encounters with the deranged family members, and Samara Weaving plays her perfectly. I love the strong heroine aspect of this film, and that they haven’t gone down the stereotypical female needing to be rescued plot. I do think the scary and horror aspects of the film could have been increased and made more of, but it’s still a rather surprisingly good and bonkers film. The ending, whilst parts of it were potentially predictable, was absolutely genius and hilarious and such a fantastic way to end the film.

Heartwarming and moving
I'm rather ashamed to admit that I'd never seen this film until today. Likely because I'm not a fan of American football, but watching this that didn't matter as it's a really great film.
You know you can't really go wrong with a Denzel Washington film, and he puts a stellar performance in here (although I really wish his character wouldn't chew gum so much urgh). The entire cast is great and there are some big names in this in their early years, the most notable being Hayden Panettiere who pretty much steals every scene she's in. The plot itself is very Disney but is a lot more serious than you'd expect and doesn't shy away from focusing on the integration and racial tensions of the time. It's difficult to watch at times yet still heartwarning and moving when you see the development of the characters. There are maybe a few cheesy cliched lines which isn't entirely a surprise considering it's a Disney film, but it did make me cringe once or twice.
However despite this slight criticism, this really is a fantastic film with a moving, serious story and a brilliant cast. Even if you're like me and not a fan of American football, this is still worth a watch.

I absolutely loved this game because of the story and side quest stories. The open world exploration for me was incredible and the game is beautiful. I found myself playing with photo mode a lot taking lots of pictures standing in fields of pretty flowers, patting cute foxes, or just standing atop a mountain taking in the amazing view. The combat in the game was fun for me and it wasn't too challenging to figure out which stances to use to gain an advantage. I liked the accessibility of the game with making the subtitles easy to read and having simplified controls. I also liked that you can easily change the difficulty settings on the game. The characters in the game are interesting and I found myself liking all of them because of their interaction with the main character Jin and getting to know them during their side story quests. I could tell where they drew inspiration from Kurosawa films like Seven Samurai and it was very well done. Ghost Of Tsushima overall is a fantastic game and I was impressed with how much thought and detail went into the game.
