David gemmell has always been my favourite heroic fantasy author, especially his Rigante series. I found this book rather slow moving, far fetched and hard to get into. Barring all that I did enjoy once it got going, although maybe wouldnt reccomend this one as much as some of his others.

"I still love to dig into his crazy fantasy worlds where worms drive apple-shaped cars. My children adore his works, too. A prolific writer and illustrator, Scarry has to be one of the most beloved author of children’s books — many of which" have become a staple in my growing household."

"This is Terry Gilliam’s classic—his best film. The music, the visuals, the fantasy, the dark surrealism. It all works to make a haunting masterpiece. A bit of trivia: the hero’s boss, H. Kurtzman, is named after Harvey Kurtzman, the originator of Mad magazine, and Terry’s boss at Help magazine."

"Exactly what movies are meant to generate: fantasy, magic, beauty, and unapologetic escapism. The bizarre source material, stories from The Arabian Nights, gives costume designers Oliver Messel, John Armstrong, and Marcel Vertès license to unleash their prodigious imaginations. I collect the work of Vertès, who was also a prolific fashion illustrator."
