David gemmell has always been my favourite heroic fantasy author, especially his Rigante series. I found this book rather slow moving, far fetched and hard to get into. Barring all that I did enjoy once it got going, although maybe wouldnt reccomend this one as much as some of his others.

More Dylan. A much better sound than his later work, but with no real standout songs for me. Not a bad listen, but nothing particularly memorable and it is hard for me to see why it was so far through the list.

"This is the best book for understanding the early history of society, literature and politics of Northern Europe. Without Saxo’s research and extensive work in compiling ancient texts and oral stories, our knowledge of early Nordic, Germanic, Celtic and English cultures and nation-building would be far poorer than it is."

"Senegalese director Djibril Diop Mambéty’s 1973 film about a young man and woman in a modern African city who don’t fit in. So they get out. They get far out. The raw energy and often hyper-experimental nature of the music, visuals, and editing make this a favorite. Beautiful. Fully punk."

"A middle-aged housewife’s desire, long before Desperate Housewives and so far away from its cynicism. Two desperate and tender films. From Jane Wyman to Brigitte Mira, from Rock Hudson to El Hedi ben Salem, from the United States to Germany, from the fifties to the seventies, a lesson in remaking."

"How did this film fly so far under the radar? I think especially as a woman who grew up Christian in the South, seeing the Christ story through a heroic woman’s POV was… transformative. I love its doc-style approach to such epic material. The miracle is in the conscience."

"If there’s life after death, let’s hope it looks like these 8 minutes of pure plastic effervescence & cosmic softness during which Belson takes us on a tour into the core of a far away galaxy, like a celestial voyage. Smoking a bit before is a plus for a total immersion."
