I was hooked from the get-go. This is part of the Chasing Secrets series but, as far as I can tell, you don't have to read both. I think they are stand-alone.

Harper has been on the run for a long time, hiding her identity to stay safe from the drug cartel she was kidnapped by when she was younger. I don't want to say too much as I feel it would take away from the suspense that the story gives. It is so cleverly written, I found myself being pulled so far in that I was getting anxious that things wouldn't be fixed.

It is a recommendation by me. A fantastic mystery that keeps you on your toes.

This, I feel, is one of those rare cases where the sequel is better than the original.

Here, newly-married Shrek and Fiona travel to "Far, Far Away" (a real place) to meet Fiona's parents - voiced by John Cleese and Julie Andrews - who, in the former case, are initially less-than-pleased with Fiona's choice of partner.

This is also the film to introduce Antonio Banderas Puss in Boots (basically, Zorro) alongside Rupert Everett's Prince Charming and Jennifer Saunder's Fairy Godmother, the latter of whom had previously hatched a plan to put her son (the preening Prince Charming) on the throne, when said son was supposed to have rescued Fiona from the tower in which she was imprisoned in the previous film.

I, personally, this one was the pinnacle of the Shrek franchise.

I woke up, and rubbed my eyes. I pushed myself up. my shoulders hurt. Probably from all the hard work I did yesterday, sitting in front of a computer and debating about a review I wrote. I rolled my neck. Slowly I pushed myself up, swung my legs over the side of my bed, and stood up. I was cold. I decided it was a good idea to grab a bath-robe or something.

Pointless jabber. That’s what that feels like. Tons of stupid little details that I don’t really need to know and really don’t care about.

The whole book so far has read like the above paragraph. I don’t want to know the details behind setting up your voicemail. I felt like this whole section so far could have been done in one or two chapters rather than te several that I’ve listened to so far. It was boring, slow, and redundant. I’ll always give a book a chance, but I don’thave time to waste on walking into the office, signing into the log, and noticing all the little details about old coffee cups and ugly posters on the wall, and the memories associated with them.

Which is really too bad, because there’s a great story in there. But the execution was poor.

Some extreme moments
Unpredictable
How far would you go when your desperate?
This was a fun movie, it reminded me a lot of that movie called Nerve. You do more and more dangerous dates for more money. It does beg the question "How far would you go when your desperate for money?"

This resulted in some extreme moments which I never saw coming. It was written well with an excellent cast. I can never take David Koechner seriously in anyovie he does but he does have a certain creep factor about him.

I like how contained it was. It was mainly set inside 1 house. It didn't go too crazy or extreme with too much money on the line. It went far enough with a believable amount of $250,000 overall. I feel the less money being offered, the more it felt desperate and extreme. It does make me think there may be some rich people out there who get off on this kind of thing.

There are definitely some "look away" moments which is good for this kind of movie and there was a decent amount of gore.

Definitely worth a watch and this was 1 of those movies that I only paid £1 for the blu ray. Can't argue with that.

Only The Brave (2017)
Only The Brave (2017)
2017 | Biography, Drama
Only The Brave isn’t exactly complicated, as far as dramas go, but it’s also not trying to be. It’s a straightforward celebration of these heroes’ lives, with a few meaningful revelations along the way, but nothing that will completely blow your mind

Scorsese does a masterful job of updating a classic here. It was great he used both Robert Mitchum and Gregory Peck again in this version.
The tension between Nolte and Lange is palpable especially as Max Cady continues to invest himself in his revenge.
The ending is a little drawn out and far-fetched, but highly recommended.

A pleasant surprise
Comic book heroes are far from being my thing but I found this film very entertaining. I liked it when Thor landed on the earth and the comedy that came with this, smashing the coffee cup on the floor and the language he uses. To me it stuck the right balance of comedy, romance, cgi and drama.

More beast than beauty
I'm not a fan of musicals and this had far too many songs for me. I can't remember the original animation that well, but this seemed to be a true reflection of it. Great cast though and amazing sets, maybe one for the kids.

A Shadow Of It's Former Self
When Greg Miller and Colin Moriarty hosted this show, it was hands-down the best gaming podcast on the internet. When they left, Brian Altano and Max Schoefield took over and it has gone so far downhill ever since. Where the show used to be interesting and insightful, it is now desperate and painfully unfunny.
