Track

"A total earworm. It’s a guy called Alexander Brettin from Los Angeles. He has to his credit so far one single, two tracks. Wire are taking him on the West Coast leg of our American tour. It lives in a similar world to certain tracks on the last couple of Wire albums, and also Malka [Spigel, Newman’s wife]’s solo album. It’s an assemblage of harpsichord, flute, organ – it’s got a bit of Todd Rundgren, a bit of ’60s psychedelia, a bit of Sébastien Tellier."

"Alphaville is the New Wave grandfather of Blade Runner: a film that is at once in the past and far in the future. I’m a big Godard fan, and this is one of his great genre deconstructions: effortlessly cool and serious at the same time. Alphaville was my fourth Godard, and I saw it when I was nineteen. He’d already dismantled my mind with Pierrot le fou, Breathless, and Le petit soldat. I wish I could see those Godard films for the first time again."

"If you were ever bullied, as I was, you probably dreamed of being a little French boy who had a magical red balloon that, together with all the other balloons in Paris, would pick you up for a trip above the city to a place far away. You didn’t? I didn’t really either. I actually wanted a gun, but this nice little movie was a safer fantasy. If you are being bullied, by the way, it’s clearly a mistake to hold on to your balloon."

Must watch, for so many reasons
This is an extraordinary piece of TV history. Everything is pitch perfect from beginning to end. Often it is difficult to watch, especially during the first two episodes, but you always feel that it's important to keep watching. A cautionary tale if ever there was one but also a homage to all of the people affected by the accident. Brilliantly made, deftly written and with masterclass acting on show. It deserves all the praise received so far.

I kickflipped out of the wheelchair, after watching Don't Worry He Won't Get Far on Foot, onto a skateboard and rolled into Mid 90's; written and directed by Jonah Hill. A great snapshot of a kid in the 90's who is at that age where you're really finding yourself. We follow Stevie a.k.a. Sunburn who, in an effort to escape his life at home, befriends some guys at the local skate shop and finds a love for skateboarding and his newfound brotherhood.

Plenty of twists
Interesting cop drama
After recently watching Bodyguard I'd thought I'd check this out as it was written by the same person. I've heard great reviews about this for a while, good to see all 4 series available on Netflix. This is a short 5 episode series that mainly follows the Police anti-corruption team. There are plenty of twists and action along the way as the stakes get higher. If you have missed it so far check it out.
