LoganCrews (2861 KP) rated Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs (2009) in Movies

Still hilarious as hell. Its breakneck energy, spastic animation, and frenetic joke-ifying forever influenced the current playing field for fast-paced children's blockbusters such as The Lego Movie(s) and its subsequent clones - good or ill. The inescapable hype around this back in the day was totally deserved because we'd seldom really seen anything like this at the time, and it's truly sad this is looked upon less fondly today just because it isn't as revolutionary as it once seemed. It still very much is imo, and how can one even try to deny that voice cast and role subversion?
Kristina (502 KP) rated Buckled (Trails of Sin, #2) in Books

I enjoyed coming back to that characters after such a long break. It's like meeting up with old friends after months of dealing with life, family, and work. Unfortunately, as much as I adored Garret and Maybe's story, I wasn't as enamored as I was with Jake and Conor's. The mystery behind their secrets honestly held no interest for me and I felt like the two of them fell a little too fast, if not too hard. I will, however, read the final book to lean about Lorne and how things turn out for him now that he's out of prison.
Emma @ The Movies (1786 KP) rated Duck Duck Goose (2018) in Movies

A bachelor goose must form a bond with two lost ducklings as they journey south.
This may have dented my love of children's films just a little bit.
A cat with a split personality and some fairly difficult to love characters were only part of my problem with this film. It was a predictable and not nearly entertaining enough to make up for that fact.
However the worst bit was the opening sequence. Everything is done so fast that it's almost impossible to work out what is actually going on, and worse for me, it set off my motion sickness.

CHILLFILTR (46 KP) rated Waiting On You by Lindsay Ell in Music

Oh girl... Don't get me started. You had me from the midnight kisses and the tremolo.
“Where this is going baby I can’t say
Every time you leave me I just want you to stay
but I gotta know where you stand”
— Lindsay Ell
Like a fast car waiting for the green to go this feels like the Nashville machine took a second to say what's up with real life: young love and maybe a night out on the town. It's the candy you want at the end of the party; a fusion of Nashville pop and Country know-how.

Laura Battle (21 KP) rated Never Go Back in Books
Jul 12, 2019
Classic Jack Reacher....I read somewhere that every man wants to be Reacher & every woman wants him ...True or not Reacher is a refreshing change to most heros as he comes with no baggage ...physically or mentally ..allowing the reader to just enjoy the plot with no 'angst' & as there is no continuing back story the series of books can be read in any order. Author Lee Child always delivers a fast paced thrill ride with no unnecessary page filling or padding making the books real page turners that pack a punch...or sometimes in Reachers case a kick! X
Terri Wiltshire (21 KP) rated The Ninth Life of Louis Drax in Books
Sep 1, 2019
Mind warping and brilliantly twisted
Given that the main character in this novel is a boy in a coma it is surprisingly fast paced. The characters are complex and the mystery around Louis condition deepens as each page us turned.
Liz Jensen really explores the limits life, family and indeed our own thoughts put on us and our families, explores the human capacity for warmth and destruction whole painting a very clear grey picture - not everything is good or bad, life is often somewhere in between.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Trace Elements (A Gower and Saxon Book) in Books

***ARC provided in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley***
I liked this. I liked the idea behind it; a real FBI agent having to work with a TV FBI agent. It was different and I did enjoy it.
The relationship did appear to just sort of happen. Sure there was sexual tension between them but nothing verbal for a long time and then they were suddenly in bed with each other. It just happened a little too fast for me.
Other than the relationship, I enjoyed the rest of the book, the case, the characters, the sub-plot.
