"This is really a sneaky way to list all of Criterion’s editions of Wes Anderson’s films. Tenenbaums is by far my favorite, but Rushmore, The Life Aquatic, and the new edition of Bottle Rocket are all pretty fantastic, too. I’m always immediately won over by the artwork and illustrations that tie all his films together. Even with different artists (Ian Dingman and Eric Chase Anderson) there is a consistency, due in no small part to Wes Anderson’s own particular aesthetic, that makes these films feel like four stories from the same hyperreal, idyllically melancholy world. There’s an interview in the Tenenbaums supplements section with artist Miguel Calderon that’s totally worth a listen."

The Terminator (1984)
The Terminator (1984)
1984 | Action, Sci-Fi
Amazing classic, amazing action and definitely one of the best movies Arnold Schwarzenegger has made (even though the one with the Kindergarden is my favorite one, and also the one with the twins, with Danny DeVito).

The storyline is amazing, even though it made me think a bit deeper and visit some reddit pages for fan-based theories.

After a discussion with my partner though, we concluded that men mostly enjoy this movie because of (obviously) the action, but for me as a woman, the underrated romance was something that left a big mark and something I really enjoyed.

Forget Romeo and Juliet - this is the romance tragedy you want in your life!

With the exception of the opening issue of this volume (Issue 7, "Moving Day"), the rest of this volume is a snoozer!

The remainder of the book was given to crossovers for two different, unrelated events ("Millennium" and then a x-over with SUICIDE SQUAD), as well as a Annual that should have been included in Volume 1, as that's where it took place!

Other than the first appearance of G'Nort, who happens to be one of my favorite DC characters, there is really no need to want to check this Volume out. Seriously, even you are a completist, there is really nothing here that you could not live without. Promise!

Now, onto Volume Three..!

"It was a great year for films. [laughs] Seeing that movie is one of the reasons I wanted to move to London, because it’s quite swinging — it’s like this weird mixture of a Hammer horror film and swinging London. There’s a scene where they cut from, I don’t know, 1569 or whatever, and it cuts to rock music and a jet airplane, so there’s a weird juxtaposition of things. I’ve gotten to know Christopher Lee over the years and I know that he would not say that this was one of his favorite films. I think it was Hammer on the decline and they thought, ‘Hey, let’s get hip,’ which was a mistake. But I enjoy mistakes sometimes."

12 Angry Men (1957)
12 Angry Men (1957)
1957 | Classics, Drama

"My five favorite films change all the time. Well, no — the top three never change, but the last two are kind of up for grabs constantly. 12 Angry Men is, I think, a feat of writing. It’s brilliant. The fact that it all takes place in one room — I think there’s maybe two minutes, three minutes of screen time that is not in the one room in that film — and yet it is one of the most compelling things I’ve ever seen. I mean, you can’t look away. You’re gripped by the dynamics between the people, by what’s gonna happen, and by the fact that it’s a whodunit, based in one room, which is brilliant."

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
2019 | Action, Crime, Thriller
John Wick: Chapter 3 is every bit as awesome and fun as you'd expect. If a dog is a man's, and woman's, best friend then John Wick is a hitman's worst enemy. This poster represents one of my favorite aspects of the movie, the lighting. Just took an already kickass movie to the next level. Like a library book, John Wick can check you out of this life real quick. And as expected, Chapter 3 has plenty of horsepower. Scrape up whatever coin you have for a ticket, cause if you're wondering whether you should see the third installment of one of the best action franchises this century the answer is simply this, yeah.

Although I'm not the biggest fan of The Govenor even as a villian, I have a certain appreciation for his skill at lying and manipulation. In this season we find our favorite characters confronted with a whole new set of problems, trying to establish a steady homestead and learning how to live alongside neighbors. Much to say everything goes sideways and then some as war breaks out, not between the living and the dead, but between two struggling parties of survivors. This is a wonderful new twist to an already amazing, established show. My second time watching and I'm still in love with it!
