Campy Creatures
Campy Creatures
2017 | Bluff, Card Game, Deduction
The Art is top notch amazing. My favorite part of the game. (0 more)
Beautiful implementation of a simple social deduction game. Fun Theme and a good time especially with more players.
Game play is very simple: Players begin each round with the same hand of beautifully illustrated creatures. Their goal is to capture people (the more helpless the better) by outguessing their opponents with the creatures they play. Each player has perfect information at the start, so knowing what a person might do in a particular situation is key. Trying to out guess the others is the fun of it. It's not a deep game and can feel a little shallow, but would be a great end of the game night filler or beer and pretzels game.

Blue Labyrinth (Pendergast, #14)

NOTE: If you haven't read anything in this series yet, Blue Labyrinth might not be the best place to start. There are returning characters from previous novels, and reading some of the earlier books (especially Relic, #1 in the series) will make this one even more enjoyable.

I love revisiting old friends and old places in this series, and the New York Museum of Natural History is by far my favorite place in Pendergast’s New York. Blue Labyrinth opens with a dead body in the museum, and Margo Green called in to assist with the police investigation. Full of danger and Pendergast family drama, this installment moves along at an incredible pace, and is a great addition to the series.

Additional corporations are great
A Worthy First Expansion
Venus Next does exactly what an expansion should do: add more content, without changing the game. The expansion delivers more corporations and cards, and adds a few new mechanics.

The new cards are not over or under powered, but still manage to be different enough from the base cards. The new corporations are also balanced, and aren't terrible, like a few of the base ones.

I do wish terraforming Venus had more of an impact on the game. One of our favorite parts of Terraforming Mars is that you can win with virtually any strategy. Unfortunately, terraforming Venus does not appear to be a very viable strategy.

Disclaimer: I received an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Anthologies are always towards the top of my list of things to read, as you get many different stories at once, boiled down in neat, easy-to-handle packages. PDGA is a wonderful collection, and once I started, I couldn't put it down! There were several stories that I'd love to see extended into or followed up by larger works (if they haven't been already), and there was enough of a diversity that everybody should be able to pick a favorite. I'd recommend this to anyone who loves the paranormal, but may not have the time to sit down with an entire novel. Look forward to another of its kind!

The Little Drummer Girl
The Little Drummer Girl
2018 | Thriller
When it was announced that Little Drummer Girl was going to be adapted, directed by Park Chan-Wook, starring Alexander Skarsgård, I was so completely excited. Park Chan-Wook's Stoker is one of my favorite films, and Skarsgård is always good.
I feel like there was a high bar set by The Night Manager, another Le Carre adaptation, and this fell way below it. Every few minutes, my friend and I compared them... Little Drummer Girl was just boring. I feel like they could have easily updated it, since the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is still alive and well.
Skarsgård essentially played the same character as when he lost his memory as Eric in True Blood. I like Florence Pugh, but her character was just flat for me.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

When I saw this graphic novel I knew that I just had to read it. Beauty and the Beast is and will always be my favorite Disney story. With all of that said, I will admit I was a little disappointed. I felt like it was a complete copy of the new movie with no new motivations attributed to the characters. I would have loved to have had the inside perspective of Belle and unfortunately this book did not give me that.

The artwork was well done but not awe inspiring. Ultimately, it was a very quick and pleasant read but I do not feel the need to read the next one.

I really wish that I loved this book as much as I loved it in middle school. I guess science fiction/fantasy really is not my favorite type of book. I found that I was bored quite a lot with this book.

I have realized that I struggle with books when they are logical. I like my emotional books. The logical nature of this novel seemed dull to me. I did like the plot line, I just did not enjoy the writing style.

All in all, this book kept me entertained. It is a good mix between science fiction and fantasy, however, it falls too much to the science fiction side that I had a hard time enjoying the novel.

The Legend of Zelda Mario Style
Link crashes on a foreign Island meets up with a lot of really zany characters and has to wake up a magical fish God that's trapped inside of an egg on top of a mountain by collecting 8 different magical instruments

Pretty crazy story even for a Zelda game my favorite thing about this game is the very imaginative ideas put into it everything from the creatures to the mini-games to the characters to the backdrops it just has a lot of personality and uniqueness put into it

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)

A crazy, interesting ride
Since I am a huge Gilliam fan, I was excited to watch this film. From the very first frame you are sucked in to this unusual, sometimes hilarious, sometimes detestable adventure of two men doing drugs, booze women all while in Vegas for a convention.

Some of the movie doesn't make much sense, the voice over helps a little. The awkward situations the two men get into and some of the unique people they encounter are my favorite parts.

Maybe I lost some of the point since I have only seen it sober? Not sure about that.

I do know it was one of the most stolen and/or never returned films in the history of Hollywood Video.

The Fate of the Furious (2017)
The Fate of the Furious (2017)

Far fetched
The Fast and the Furious has always been one of my favorite series... but to be honest they should have stopped after number 5 or even 6....

The story has become so washed out. It used to be about basic street racing with some crime mixed in. It was a tale of family, and loyalty.

This series has become so far fetched it's crazy. The realism is what people liked in the beginning, and they have all but obliterated that. There is so much unrealistic crashing, and maneuvers that is becomes unbelievable. They went from small time, to big time in a huge way. From being about family, to being about betrayal.

It could just be me, but it's just not a movie for me.
