This was a aurprisingly great read! I love reading books by authors that I've not read previously. I got into the book with the hope of finding a new favorite author or at least someone whose books I want to continue to watch for. On the downside, that has also lead to reading books that just don't even some close to fulfilling that place.
This one is not one of those books though, I'm thrilled to say! I am a HUGE fan of Steve Berry & David Baldacci & Reese Hirsch has come as close to anyone else in mathcing their writing style, plot twists, & wonderful character development. For an author I'd never heard of until picking up this book, I'd say that is pretty high praise.
This books tells the story of Will Connelly. A newly minted partner in a large corporate law firm in California. He decides to go out to celebrate his newfound partnership & unbeknownst to him, finds himself in the cosshairs of some ladder climber Russian mafia wannabes. This leads to investigations targeting Will by the SFPD, SEC, & DOJ among other law enforcement agencies. The characters are well developed & believeable. The plot twists & turns without becoming to weighed down by all the legal jargon or government agencies.
I look forward to more by this author!

I was quite surprised by the book! I had no idea that the author was the "Jason Segel" from tv and movies, until midway through the book when I needed to know more about the author. I was pleasantly surprised the characters were well fleshed out and were not two dimensional as most sci-fi can do. I was a bit hesitant at the start of the book as I had seen some hype saying that this was the next "Ready Player One". I really dislike when people compare things like that. Especially when they are compared with my favorite book. Don't even get me started on the movie for that book.
This had a great world, and I'm really excited to get to go back for the second book, currently it's on hold at the library once I'm off the waitlist will definitely dive in. I'm glad that the characters were flawed and real. The worlds were developed and thought out. The plot was fully considered. I'm rather impressed with Jason Segel's writing ability.

I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review
An interesting story, to say the least. It was a different concept and I appreciate that. However, there were times when I didnt understand what was going on. The beginning for instance. I know he controlled air, but the passage itself was hard to grasp. I wasnt sure that what I was visualizing in my head is what the author intended.
Overall, it was an enjoyable read, especially if you are looking for more erotica than story. While there was a plot, and it was fairly interesting, the sex heavily outweighed the story.
I suppose I am biased, however, since this novel was exactly up my alley. I love erotica, and I love stories that involve people who can control elements. Besides witches/warlocks, they are my ultimate favorite paranormals. However, if the author wasnt skilled, I wouldnt have enjoyed this story nearly as much. Despite the random scenes I found confusing, it was an enjoyable story.

Overall, this was an enjoyable series. There are a few story devices that I am over such as the cheating boyfriend and one true mate but the author has an easy style that, once you get into the story, the story seems to fly by. I didnt even realize how far into the story I was until I had to set it down.
Derek and Claire are not my favorite couple. Claire comes off as a bit childish despite being 30 something years old, and, honestly, I felt her little pity party early on in the story that brought about the accident was poor storytelling. That being said, I thought Derek was precious in in subtle courtship of her. He wanted to make her happy but thought he couldnt be with her so he left her little presents. I mean how adorable?
But I digress. The author is skilled with painting a clear portrait of the scenery events. While I wasnt overly fond of her leads, I was still invested in their HEA.

Great mix of history and fiction.
I kept saying this around Halloween and I finally got around to reading it. I got to be honest I wasn't expecting much sounded a little trophie but I got to be honest I really did enjoy it from start to finish. The author is apparently related to the actual guy in the book which was a really cool take I really love the setting of Salem the author really got the detail down great and made for really interesting story. I got to be honest the plot was probably my favorite part it was a great mix of historical fiction and YA high school drama with the perfect amount of a good old myster novel.
Really my only complaint was the really tired love triangle storyline I really didn't feel like it was needed she could have easily have just been friends with one of them but that's just my personal opinion because I honestly I absolutely hate love triangles.
I'm definitely going to be chexking out book 2.

I couldn't put this book down! Unfortuntely I took me a few days to get through it, what with my schedule and all.
At any rate, the author of this story does the best job of captivating her readers and I was finding myself reading faster and faster because I wanted to see how the story unfolded. I think Collins has created memorable characters that will not soon be forgotten! I cannot wait to see how the movie turns out!
My favorite characters from the book have got to be Katniss as well as her stylist Cinna. Although the other supporting characters are interesting, I am anxious to see what happens in the third installment of this series. Happy reading everyone!
