Michael Ondaatje is undoubtedly my favorite author. However, his books are sadly few and far between (but oh, the quality…)! I, like all his fans, now anxiously await the publication of his newest book, which is coming out in early May. While we wait, I thought this would be a good time to remember some of his other books, such as “Divisadero” which I reviewed on my blog here. https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2014/12/09/up-close-and-undivided-attention/
(The title of this novel comes from a street in San Francisco but the origin of the name of the street probably means 'division' or it could come from a verb in Spanish 'divisar' which means 'to gaze at from a distance'. Holy smokes! Ms. Dylan is AH-mazing!!! I was so excited to get this book and review it. I sat down the minute I got it and DEVOURED it! I was done almost as quickly as I began it. Her writing style is just THAT good. The intensity that she creates the story with, I felt every bit of it. It was a wonderful time, reading this story!
I have always had a fascination with crime dramas and the legalities of it all, so when I had the chance to review this for the author, I jumped on it. The plot line was intruiging and the characters sounded absolutely fantastic. I was right. Kate and Landon's characters were both beautifully chiseled for their roles and instantly stole my heart. The sparks that pass between them are awesome and the suspenseful twists to the story really bring out the intensity of both of these characters as the heart pounding, page turning scenes come to life.
This book is in my top 10 favorite reads of 2017. It is a wonderful story, filled with edge of your seat, fast paced circumstances. Learning to lean on God in times of crisis, and focusing on the future and not the past really make this book beyond 5 star worthy. I can't wait to see what book 2 in this incredible new series has in store for us. Hats off and gavels down to the awesometastic author, Rachel Dylan!

Forgot to post this last month
I chose to read this book because it's by my favorite author. I ended up loving it and it's now one of my favorite series. If you loved her book Fallen you will love this one as well. The book begins slowly as Fallen does but if you keep reading you will not regret it.

Growing up Eureka's mother told her to never cry and she ended up dying in a freak accident at the start of the book. This left Eureka puzzled and alone in the world until the boy who saved her in the accident came along who is named Ander. Her mother left her three inheritance a locket, thunderstone and book which end up making better sense later in the story. When Eureka, her best friend Brooks, her sister and brother go to the beach one day something weird happens to Brooks after the strange wave which leads to him acting weird which later on in the book Eureka discovers her best friend has been processed by someone from the sunken island of Atlantis. The person who processed him Eureka will end up having to go head to head with in the next book. She also discovered there's something special in her bloodline about tears. If you'd like to know more read the book.

This book changed my life
It's become a tradition to read this book at the beginning of every year. First off, this book saved my life. It's hard to admit but during my freshman year of college I felt suicidal. It was a few weeks into second semester and one of my close friends gave me this book to read. I read it within hours, I ignored the basketball game that I went to and I devoured this book. Tears were shed, and my life was changed.
This book quickly became my favorite novel and David Levithan has earned the honor of being my favorite author. The characters are intertwined and connect in ways that mimics our every day lives.
I love the fact that David Levithan has characters that anyone can relate to. If you're the popular kid, you will relate to someone. If you're that kid in the back of the classroom, you will relate to someone. There are 20 different characters and you will be able to relate to at least one of them.
I have read this book 6 times so far and every time I read this novel I find something new to fall in love with. My signed book is something that I will forever treasure.
I recommend this book to everyone.

Absolutely LOVE Pepper Winters!
I was first introduced to Tess through Pepper's other series, "Pennies", which I read through in only 4 days (which is no easy feat when you're a mom to 4 littles!). When I read a series that I love, I've never actually gone on to read the stories of other characters introduced along the storyline but after reading review after review I knew I had to at least TRY it. Tears of Tess sucked me in just like the Pennies series did. Not only is Pepper Winters my new favorite author, but her storylines and Characters have stuck with me and may even, dare I say, earned themselves a second read through by me (which literally NEVER happens!)

Longtime Favorite
Where to start? First let me say that this book is probably only going to resonate with a certain audience. The author, Amy MacKinnon, explores some dark subjects but manages to do it in a beautiful way. The book follows a main character, Clara Marsh, who works as a mortician in a funeral home and struggles with events in her past. These events are brought to light through flashback chapters that don't distract from the main plot of the story. It is a thrilling read that will have you hanging onto every word as Clara deals with past abuse and loss and the struggle to help a young girl who keeps making appearances in her life. This beaitifully haunting crime novel is definetely worth the read for anyone who enjoys the thrill of a good mystery and suspense filled novel.
