This was my favorite book of 2018! I feel it got swept under the rug by some. This loosely based retelling of Anastasia was just fantastic.

Kristina (502 KP) rated Broken (Will Trent, #4) in Books
Dec 7, 2020
Broken isn't my favorite Slaughter book, nor is it my favorite Trent book. However, I enjoyed it much more than Undone. It didn't feel quite as long or tedious. The murderer and circumstances of the events were a little hard to accept, but all-in-all, it was enjoyable. I like the fact I can focus on a few different plot lines: Will and Angie's relationship, Faith with her baby girl, and now the true history between Sara and Lena. Broken wasn't very gruesome and it felt more oriented around the characters' lives instead of their case - that was a nice change.

This is a different take on vampires in modern day. This book was published when vampire novels/movies were the big thing. It was more about the family, with vampirism thrown in. I liked the way the chapters were broken up, and the story was great.
This book ended my 3 book Matt Haig reading streak, and I think this was my favorite of the three. I definitely can recommend this one.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Eeeeeeh!
Okay, sorry, but I never thought my wish would be granted for this book and I'm so thrilled I got to read it!
Alien is one of my all-time favorite movies and this book is an absolute treat to read.
It's a great behind the scenes look with wonderful pictures and illustrations!

Night Reader Reviews (683 KP) rated Koko in Books

I was not even able to finish this book. Peter Straub cowrites with one of my favorite authors so I figured it was only right that I give one of his books a try. The book turned out to be very dry and boring. I did manage to make it to the halfway point in the book before I gave up, so I feel confident in saying that I did give it a fair shot.

Okay, it is official... I am putting this book in my "did not finish" pile. Rohypnol, rape, murder, and horrible writing/characters these are a few of my least favorite things. I haven't put a book in this list in well... forever. I am creating a "did not finish" shelf just for this book.
1st, the characters are 1 dimensional. I made it to page 90 and I just had to stop reading. The characters fell very flat.
2nd, this book reads like a high schooler's wet dream. There is the threat of rape, rape, and well... lots of sex.
3rd, I felt like the writer decided to add "big words" just to feel like a good writer. It felt like the writer had to use a thesaurus constantly.
I really wanted to like this book. It is suspense/romance which is my favorite genre but it just fell flat.

Christy (3 KP) rated Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in Books

Good
The book is my least favorite in the series. I actually started with Chamber of Secrets and came back to this one after I finished the first few books.
It's not terrible, and I would recommend it, because it gets better as the book goes on. The characters are likable, even the ones you love to hate.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Great book I couldn't put it down, I was engrossed from page 1. Loved the plot, and characters, but my favorite is Jax. Jax is a Mechanic by day and stripper by night. Love this steamy read, I will definitely be reading more books by Jade Allen.
