Sarah Betts (103 KP) rated Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Comic Book in Books
Dec 31, 2019
I'm not gonna lie. Having played the game, I knew I would love this book.
It has 5 stories each featuring The Dad's from the game.
The art is different for each story, a touch I really appreciated.
I think my favorite was "Dungeons and Daddies" which did a fantastic job of exploring the characters in an unfamiliar setting.
I don't think you would need to play the game to enjoy this book.
Just wrap yourself in the fluffy blanket of sweetness that is this book and enjoy!

I loved how Shannon McNear explained both sides of the war and her descriptions of events were so realistic. I really enjoyed reading about these characters, Shannon McNear brought them to life and made me invested in their outcomes right from the start. I can not more highly recommend reading a book! Its full of adventure, survival, compassion, love... It has so much to offer.
I give this book 5 out of 5 stars for the beautifully crafted characters, the inspiring story-line, and for the great description Shannon McNear gave of both sides in the war.

Nicole Hadley (380 KP) rated Queso!: Regional Recipes for the World's Favorite Chile-Cheese Dip in Books
Jun 14, 2018
The book explains the modern origin of Chile Con Queso, and tracks the history and regional differences of the dish. The recipes provided range from early appearances in magazines and Woman's clubs cooking publications, to restaurant versions that popularized the dish, and ending with modern vegan varieties.
It is a fun cookbook. Queso is incredibly comforting, delicious, and easy to make. Each recipe is presented with an explanation of the geographical origin of the version, and / or some tips on how to incorporate it into a meal. The recipes are straightforward, and easy to follow. The delicious entrees included prove that Queso is not merely a side or dip. I did not know that I needed a book completely about Chile Con Queso until I read this book.
I received this ARC from Ten Speed Press via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Auburn (57 KP) rated Blood Heir (Blood Heir, #1) in Books

I enjoyed this book but I didn't love it. The plot was fantastic but it was so long. It took me a few days to finish which is weird because normally when I start a great book I rush through it. The slow burn was there and the characters had growth. But it's book 1 in the series and we all know what that means.
The Affinities were something that really got me into the book. I wish they had more of a presence. Otherwise I have all good things for this book. It was great and interesting the slow burn enemies to lovers is a favorite trope of mine.
