Macey is a naive high schooler who wants to find a date to prom. She reads way to much and decides to use 10 steps from her favorite romance novels in order to get a boy for prom.
This is a short, sweet, and uniquely funny book. The premise is cute and while Macey is beyond naive towards the true love it is so short it doesn't matter.

The pope is coming to LA, and Madeline is catering the welcome breakfast. But while prepping, she finds a letter that seems to confess to a murder, and it sets her off on a mystery with ties to the past. Still my favorite in the series with a fast paced, twisty plot and such wonderful characters.

Paranormal is usually not my favorite. I do enjoy it but I must be in the mood for it. This book was so well written that I flew through it. The character of Ryn was very well developed. The theme seemed to be good versus evil with some nasty paranormal politics going on. I put this in the same category as American Gods but much less crass and gritty but in a good way.

Hard to predict
Nearly flawless
This is one of my favorite books in this genre. For a long book I read this quick ease. It's hard to put down because the story is so engrossing and laid out beautifully. So much suspension and impossible to figure out made it fun to read but also why it's not a reread. Not so exciting when you know what's going on.

Three friends walk into their favorite dive bar, The Shamrock, and are shocked to see their favorite actor, Sam Decker there. When he joins their table and starts buying drinks, the conversation turns to each others pasts and how their lives got to be at the point they are. This night will change everyone's lives forever.
From the beginning of the book, we know that someone is going to die. And now I am just trying to figure out the when and how. The book flips between present day and the past when the group of three girls used to be a foursome.
Something about this book that I liked is that you get to see how the girl get to this point in their life. I liked the flashbacks and it transported me back to my high school days. I could see me and my friends in this same situation although my friends and I were not quite as wild as these girls.
One part that really struck me was a reference to Virginia Woolf and her suicide note. In the note she says, "I don't think any two people could have been happier than we have been." The character reading this mentions that this phrase is said twice in her short suicide note. I find it ironic that the author mentions a phrase twice in this book, "Only boring people get bored." I think deep down these girls were bored, but used the antics they pulled help to add some excitement to their lives. Another interesting thing about this book, is that we are never really introduced to the narrator. I can only recall her name being mentioned twice in the book.

If this was one of my text books I might have done my homework.
I was really unsure of reading this when it first came out since I tend to stay away from novellas or side books but it's for Harry Potter so I took the dive and you know what I was not disappointed.
I really didn't know how I was going to like reading a "text book" book but Fantastic Beasts is really cool in that you do get to learn more about the magical creatures of the wizarding world.. And honestly I wish it was longer!
My favorite thing and what really just helps this book be more immersive is that it is Harry Potter's old school text book so it has little notes from him and Ron. It's a small detail but just really cute and a must have for Potterheads.
