"I think this is one of the best war movies ever made. It covered the heroics of World War 2 which we’re all familiar with from the greatest generation, but it was the first movie to ever capture the absolute terror of being a soldier in the war. It was okay to be absolutely terrified during that world war. Every other movie is mostly about showing bravery in such an unrealistic context, it’s like every soldier that fought there died gracefully. But I know people who fought in that war who saw that movie when it came out, and it brought back a lot of memories and fears and terrors. You weren’t encouraged to get help after the war for the trauma back then. And that movie did more for a lot of those soldiers and veterans, and it is just great filmmaking."

"It might seem a bit predictable, but a really good test for me for an album is if, when I put it on, I can sing along virtually every word, and whenever ‘Ocean Rain’ comes on or ‘Silver’ comes on… [he starts to sing] “Swung from a chandelier/ My planet sweet on a silver salver/ Bailed out my worst fears/ 'Cause man has to be his own saviour/ Blind sailors/ Imprisoned jailers/ God tame us/ No one to blame us.” I can do that for the whole album, that line “Screaming from beneath the waves”, just that desperation, I think it’s Mac at his finest. No-one’s ever taken the piss better than him, he was my kind of role model. ‘My Kingdom’ is such an underrated classic, the title track, ‘Killing Moon’ obviously, it’s a classic."

"Whenever I watch this movie, I want to go out with my son and fire off an Estes rocket in the back yard. I love this movie. I love what it stands for — exploring the unknown and our deepest fears. I love the era: the space race with the Russians. I love the heroism — Chuck Yeager had the biggest pair of balls of any man. Ever! The greatest lesson this movie teaches is the balance of tone. Obviously it has some incredible drama and action, but it also has straight up comedy. It’s really hard to juggle those three things in one movie. Harry Shearer and Jeff Goldblum are the perfectly understated comic relief guys. Fred Ward, who I got to work with in Naked Gun 33 1/3, is hilarious. This movie has it all."

I used to be a plumber
Jack brooks: monster slayer pays homage to movies like Evil dead, from dusk till dawn & gremlins.

After witnessing his family's brutal murder as a child, he grows up with an unquenching fury he is constantly fighting.
After accidentally unleashing an ancient evil during a plumbing job, his client/professor (Robert Englund) becomes possessed and mutates into a gruesome monster with an undying hunger.
This results in Jack facing his fears he can no longer run from and discover the purpose of his inner rage.

This is a great movie that honestly pays off, a low budget project that deserves a franchise.
