You Are Not Alone (2014)
2014 | Horror, Thriller
Something my friends and I would have rented from the video store in 2011 on a Friday night after school and loved - and much to my delight this is actually pretty good stuff. One half reasonably fun "day in the life" with a perfect rural small town feel and really likable characters, one half most easily avoidable horror movie situation ever with one creepy motherfucking killer played out at enticing length. Doesn't really get all it can get out of the first-person gimmick but it's done well overall, at times feels like you're watching yourself get stuck in this situation and there's nothing you can do about it - which of course I was fully on board for. Genuinely shocked how stellar the acting is, how many good songs are on the soundtrack, and how little the budget shows all for a Kickstarter film. Has a few damn scary moments but sometimes this can feel a little *too* calculated - a loud, cued score and over-obvious slowed motions where silence and more natural movements would succeed. But I can't complain too much, it looks great and doesn't mess around with any stupidly obvious whodunit twists or predictable jump scares or whatever - routinely wrings the fear out of something as simple as looking around a corner. The biggest reason this isn't rated any higher is because I desperately wanted more of it.

A transformers film that everyone can enjoy. (2 more)
It actually fits in as a prequel to the first transformers.
Actually made me smile, a feel good film!
Pleasantly surprised
Firstly, thank you Smashbomb for my free Bumblebee DVD!
I was sceptical with yet ANOTHER transformers film, but after seeing it happens before Sam Witwicky met bumblebee i felt like it was worth a shot!
It doesn't follow the same pattern as the other installments of the franchise (in a good way) it's actually got some heart behind the story. Theres action but not too much, enough of a build up to set in motion what happens in Transformers 1.
I love how they showed what happened to bumblebees voice, how he found his Camero alias and how his relationship with Humans managed to become so good. It was a prequel that was made as if it was actually made before the first, like all prequels should be (but unfortunately it's not always the case). It doesn't create anymore questions, start new, never to be finished storylines, it was a straight forward set up.
I honestly thought I'd have another flop on my hands but genuinely enjoyed it and would watch it again.
I didn't feel as though it was another stab at a worn out franchise either, it was fresh and heart warming, a movie in it's own right. Someone could come in completely new to Transformers and the whole world it has created and fall in love with it from this, like I said, it fits in perfectly.
Definitely recommend guys, it's actually a lovely action film!

Mothergamer (1574 KP) rated the PlayStation 4 version of Trials of Mana in Video Games

Trials of Mana
Trials of Mana
1995 | Action/Adventure, Role-Playing
I remember playing the original Trials Of Mana and enjoying it for the story and gameplay. This Trials Of Mana is a remake and instead of a 2D topdown, it is now fully 3D with updated graphics and modernized gameplay. The story while simple is good and the game itself is charming because of the characters, music, and combat system. Battles are fun and grinding doesn't feel like a chore at all because of the more modern feel. You have 6 different characters to choose from for your main character and can choose 2 characters to be your companions to round out your party. This gives you different story chapters showing you different origin stories for each character as well as different villains. The world in the game is fairly linear with just the main quest and no real side quests, but that doesn't detract from the game too much because there is a lot of replay value with new game plus and the chance to play the game with new characters. The game is about 30 hours and for me personally it was fun and had a nice fairytale feel to it and it appealed to my nostalgia of the original and introduced my daughters to a new JRPG that they really liked. Made me laugh and relateable (0 more)
This was such a feel good book and felt like a real story. It felt like a family you could meet in real life.
It make me laugh and the characters were so relatable (mostly). The mums at the school were definitely the stereotypical types of mums every school seems to have.
Although the story started with a bang it took my a chapter or two to get into but once I did I really enjoyed the book and it was not what I was expecting at all. The blurb didn't give anything away and it was so unexpected. It made the story even better as it wasn't the typical thing that could crop up in a marriage. No-one could guess what the twist is.
There were a few spelling mistakes but this is expected in any book.
I tried to put myself in the main character (Meg) shoes and tried to see how I would feel in her position and I came to the conclusion I would feel exactly the same way and would handle it the same way too.
This book is one if you are looking for a story that you can laugh at with a bit of a surprise and is definitely for early 20s upwards.
I would read other books by this author.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)
Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)
2008 | Comedy, Romance
Has it's moments
The movie has its moments of comedy and drama. Siegel plays a love struck music sound layer for his girlfriend Bell (Sarah Marshall) when she up and dumps him for a wild and crazy rick singer played by Russel Brand. After some advice he decides to take a long vacation to a Hawaiian resort only to find out that is ehre his ex and new beau are staying and has to make the best of it. Lots of great cameos in this film and a great idea for a musical. I feel that it could have been a little better but, still a good flick

I would describe this as a nose dive, at the start i was fully on board. I thought this was going to be the first tom cruise film i actually like, and then it go wierd... Boring... and just plain stupid.
The first half was good and fun, scary at times when the zombie outbreak happens...
And i have issues with a skeleton swimming, i feel like it would just sink and not be able to swim without skin to cup the water?

Oh lordy! Although I think I would actually prefer if they had half the film with Tom Cruise as the lead then Brendan Fraser steps in and says "Move aside little kid, I've got this" *stares as the Mummy woman* "I really hate Mummy's" *Shotgun to the face*

When the world was going to be destroyed the elete had a way out. Unfortunately they ended up with too many others. The "pit" is where the poor lived and worked to sustain the "dome". Sunny is from the pit. Jack is from the dome. They help each other escape. It has almost a [Hunger Games] feel to it with some [Handmaid's Tale]. The charcaters of Sunny and Jack are typical but complex enough to keep the story interesting. I really like that Sunny is a strong character. I read all three stories in one sitting so I would say the pace was pretty good. I would recommend this book series.

Could've been so much better
This could've been a fantastic dark and gruesome tale, and although parts of this were quite creepy (always the scenes with the hollows), I feel like Tim Burton has really missed the mark with this one. The film only has a very vague resemblance to the book, and it's very irritating that they've changed so many characters and so many scenes for no reason. Some of the acting and script seemed stilted and not well executed at times, and the pace was far too slow. The effects were good though and it did have potential, it's just a shame Burton couldn't pull it off.

Disappointing
I was looking forward to this British Horror as it looked a bit different to most horror films.
Unfortunately the early part of the film relies too much on jump scares and loud noises. The first horror tale was eerie but not scary. The second was more creepy and uneasy, although cut a bit short I felt. The third was ok but then it starts to get a bit weird.
I didn't like the ending much and thought it took something away from the film by changing the whole feel of the film. Something of a marmite film I think.
