Considering the source material, I think the writers have come up with a pretty decent story, they also haven't shied away from the source either but made it palatable for the wider audience.

My son and I both thoroughly enjoyed it, there were giggles for grown ups and kids.
It moved at a fast pace but my son kept up with it all, and even gleaned most of the meaning when mixed languages were being spoken (he can't read all the words himself yet!)

It is what it is, a fun feel good family movie, with a little bit of a 90s comedy style to it.
Perfect to watch with the kids.

Powerful thriller

Mockingbird's Cry is full of suspense, intrigue and romance, which makes a good all around read. There's plenty of action to keep you entertained.

Jo, an ex-member of Hera Force (all-female black ops group) is pulled back into the military life (that was ruined by a failed mission) working with Lincoln.... gorgeous, ex co-operative and lover from many moons ago!
Both are strong and capable, you'd need to be with all the twists, turns and lies that keep getting in their way personally and professionally.
The way that the two characters interact is well written and I really feel for them. I love how resilient Jo is.

I found this addition to the franchise less scary than the previous movies, yes it has all the key things you get in today’s shockers, the figure running quickly across the screen in the background, shadowy figures, loud noises after moments of silence and of course those creepy sounds that bounce around all the speakers to make you feel at ease. But I’m not sure if it is down to me seeing so many horror films and knowing what’s coming that I don’t seem to jump as much as I used to, although many of the jumpy scenes that do you the good old tricks may work on those that are very nervy when watching horrors.

This is the second instalment in the Ash and Blue series and I found it thrilling. There has been a lot of research gone into this book and it has a very easy flow to read. You can feel the emotions that the characters are going through and the conflict that Ryan feels with some of the decisions he has to make.

It definitely captured me from the first page and I couldn't wait to find out what was going on.

I'm not sure if there will be another one but I would certainly like to see one

Character development
I loved this book, from the very start the storyline gripped me. I thought Jean was a very well written character, relatable and likeable. And following the story from her POV made it feel more real.
It's quite worrying that something like this scenario isnt impossible to imagine happening. A lot of women already struggle to get their voices heard, and there are plenty of extremists out there continuously cooking things up. It makes you wonder, as you're reading, how would you react. What would you do to be free.
Very good book, and I will definitely read more by her. #christinadalcher #vox #silencecanbedeafening #womenwillnotbesubdued #womenhavevoices #dystopianfiction #dystopiannovel #wewillnotbesilenced #powerfulbook

A great read
Whenever I pick up a door stop of a Stephen King novel, I always expect great things as most of his epic novels are fantastically good. And for the most part, The Talisman definitely meets expectations.

It's a great fantasy story filled with all manner of concepts including alternate worlds, werewolves, wizards etc and it does well to blend all of these together into a cohesive story without becoming too convoluted. Jack is an endearing main character and develops well over the course of the story, and all of the other characters too are in their own ways intriguing, even Morgan Sloat as the bad guy. This story really reminds me of The Dark Tower series, which isn't a bad thing as it had a similar quest type theme. My only criticisms are that it seems to drag a little towards the very end, which isn't good for a 700 page book. And also I've never read any Peter Straub, but I could tell reading this the parts that weren't all King, and I think the story might have been worse off for it. When you've read as many of King's books as i have, you can tell his narrative apart and whilst it's still a very good book, I would've been interested to see how this book would've turned out if it had been written by him alone.

That said, I feel like I need to read the sequel now in the hope it's just as good!
