Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Starry Eyes in Books
Sep 3, 2019
So I read my first Jenn Bennett book several years ago, her paranormal Arcadia Bell series and devoured the 4 books in about a week, it was so good. It was then only last year I found her YA books on Amazon and decided to try them and they are so cute.
This must be my sixth or seventh and I've enjoyed all of them. Her YA/NA books are so cute in their romances with characters that you want to get together so badly and written in a way that even you feel a little warm and gooey after reading them fall for each other.
This one involves a nerdy stargazer and an emo-y outdoors fan who trek for several days through the wilderness that sounded pretty amazing apart from the bears and cougars/mountain lions.
I cannot wait to read more of her work

Chayu (810 KP) rated Twilight (2008) in Movies

Great romance movie
Movie is about strong first love between two teenagers. Not your cup of tea? Don't watch it just to cry how bad it is, because it is actually good. In this movie, Bella, who seems to be an introvert, moves to a new school. She is supposed to feel and act awkward because everything is new to her, and Kristen did an amazing job. Edwards being abusive as some people complain, well...a person who feels strong emotions for another and at the same time wants to protect that person from himself, no one would be rational at that point. Remember when you were madly in love, how did you act? Add to that the fact that Edward is a vampire, a killing machine. Great movie about true love of two teenagers and how they overcome problems and their differences.

David McK (3562 KP) rated Mortal Engines (2018) in Movies
Sep 18, 2021
Cyberpunk sci-fi movie that should really have been a series, set in the far future centuries after the cataclysmic sixty-minute war and where there are now two main kinds of settlements: the 'traditional' (here, viewed - at least initially - by the main protaganist as barbaric) and mobile: giant cities (London is one) powered by some form of locomotion, who pursue a philosophy of Municipal Darwinism ie hunt down and consume smaller cities to provide supplies and materials.
The problem, however, is that this movie just tries to pack too much into its runtime; too much if the action from the source book on which it is based, with the result that the characters never really seem to develop all that much and, in some cases, are given short shrift (which is why I feel a series would have been better).
Good effect, though.

Blazing Minds (92 KP) rated Alien Outbreak (2020) in Movies
Nov 1, 2021 (Updated Nov 3, 2021)
First of all, I have to mention that Alien Outbreak looks good and I mean that with the colouring of the film, the colour pallet works very well in many scenes and it looks crisp, the use of lighting is also nicely used, particularly at night with the various shadow colours and effects for the torch-lit corridors, look out for a nicely shot scene while they are driving in a car and the burnt orange background stands out perfectly in the scene.
Now that’s out of the way, let’s get on to the film itself, many people really give indie made films a rough ride these days, but this is probably down to them comparing them with big Hollywood blockbusters, these types of movies like Alien Outbreak always have a certain look and feel to them and to me I find that very appealing in the extravagant blockbusters.
