Uwe Boll recommended Apocalypse Now (1979) in Movies (curated)

Apocalypse Now (1979)
1979 | Action, Drama, War

"One of my all-time favorites is Apocalypse Now, because it shows the craziness of war, and you have the feeling that the shooting also was a big adventure. And this is what I like. What is lost, if you see war movies today — not like Pearl Harbor, that’s one of the worst movies of all time — but like Mel Gibson‘s Once We Were Warriors or Soldiers or whatever (2002’s We Were Soldiers), all that stuff, you feel it’s all fake. You feel they go in the evenings to their hotel rooms and it’s all good. But in Apocalypse Now, you feel like these guys were f—ed!"

Historical isn't one of my favorites when it comes to genre but this one had enough romance and mystery to keep me interested. The writing was intriquing and very well done. It made me feel as if I could see and feel what was happening to and with the characters. Stephen was a bit odd at first, I didn't know what to think of him but he made me laugh and smile. And then I fell in love with him and with Sybil. The secondary type characters also made me smile and feel good. Which is always fun because sometimes the other characters get put into the background and you don't feel them, but not in this story. I am so glad I got to review this one

I feel like I may be on of the last people to have gotten around to reading this dystopian scifi thriller, but I'm glad I finally listened to it (I downloaded it off of Audible). While Cline's necessity to drop some 80s reference (however obscure) in what seems like every other paragraph started to feel a little forced by the end, it was still a rollicking good story, and any 80s kid will completely dig this.

I've been wanting to watch this movie for a while now, and was sad that I missed it in theaters.
After seeing it, I feel better about missing it. The movie was largely ok, it was funny, and the action was good. But, I did feel like it was so drawn out for the concept. The cast is strong, and I enjoyed the performances, aside from Larson (I'm not a huge fan of her). This film is definitely style over substance.

Good acting
Unique
This show is very addictive, unusual and fun. I love the witty dialogue and quirky characters.

The story is so unique and lighthearted, with lots of unexpected twists and turns. It’s very unoredictable, but still amusing and entertaining.

The acting is great and I feel that the actors really get into their characters making you feel like you really know their personalities.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed watching this and can’t wait to get stuck into watching season 2!

Can feel a little one-dimensional after a while
Fun strategy game for all the family
We have enjoyed this lots as a family. The game has lots of variety with all the races and abilities and the different combinations in each game. This has good strategic play with a healthy dose of fun thrown in. However, can feel a little one-dimensional and small after a while.

I'm not a parent so maybe that's why I didn't get it. I just don't feel it needed that M. Night. Shyamalan touch to make it interesting. The reveal sadly came after the movie had stalled so it wasn't as impactful. Good performances but overall too slow for my sensibilities.

Watchable, but no magic
Unlike the original, this film has no spark. The characters are okay, but there's nothing that feels new. I enjoyed it, but wouldn't watch it again. It's a disappointment, because the first one was so good. I actually feel it's time to hang these movies up.

Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
2017 | Action, Adventure, Fantasy
A complete change for Thor in both outfit and personality which was a bold move that pays off handsomely as the movie is hilarious and engaging and has a different feel.
Goldblum' s character is quirky but he is always good to see no matter the movie. A must see film.
