VFW feels like Hobo With a Shotgun mashed together with From Dusk Till Dawn, with a sprinkling of Mandy for good measure, all whilst accompanied by an atmospheric synthwave score. What's not to love?

Truthfully, it brings nothing new to the table. What we see in VFW has been done before, and Joe Begos just wallows in that fact. It's a good time.
It has a distinctive grindhouse feel to it throughout, it has a semi Terminator style 80s feel to it throughout, but still manages to carve out its own identity.

The cast are great - Stephen Lang, William Sadler, Fred Williamson, Martin , David Patrick Kelly - all actors that I thoroughly enjoy, here playing war veterans fighting back against a gang of leather clad drug addicts laying siege to their bar. It's a simple premise, mixed with a 90 minute runtime, ensuring that VFW packs a hyper violent punch.
When I say violent, I mean violent. It's gory as all hell and doesn't shy away from what it shows. It doesn't feel too over the top as the film is so fast paced, you hardly have time to process what just happened before something else ridiculous happens.

VFW is certainly not for everyone, but I found it to be an over the top and stylish horror gem. Check it out!

Some wooden acting. (0 more)
A good romp with some tense atmospherics.
A great premise with some stunning CGI. Some of the scenes feel a bit forced as they have borrowed alot from other xenomorph/horror films.
Ryan Reynolds plays Ryan Reynolds with his quirky and snappy sarcasm carrying through.
Jake Gylenhall was a favourite of mine as he generally brings another character to the table.
All in all a enjoyable flick with lashings of aliens and enough tension to keep you interested.

Quite funny
Something different from most Horror films
Cool original Horror film
A decent twist to the old creepy cabin in the woods genre. It led to an unusual feel to the film though, it wasn't like watching a slasher film as you know something else is going on behind the scenes. It has a fair bit of dark humour to it as well. The twist does make for a more interesting film, so at least it tried something different.

A good origin story
This is another Marvel comic origin story, so yes it's fairly predictable. However for me it's one of the better Marvel films I've seen in recent years. Due to its mind and universe bending nature, it has a completely different feel to the other super hero films. Benedict Cumberbatch is a great addition to the Marvel line-up, however his accent does get pretty dodgy at times. It's intriguing, funny and the special effects are fantastic.

This film made me actually like Jane Eyre. Basically, the book Jane Eyre is the bane of my existence, and I've done numerous boring reports on it. BUT, I figured I'd give this adaptation a try, since I love both Michael Fassbender and Mia Wasikowska.
The film was actually engaging and interesting, and I can watch it over and over again. I feel as though it's a good adaptation, and, if it got me to actually like the story, it did it's job.

Ben Affleck as Batman (0 more)
Absolutely nailed the whole feel of the suicide squad and adding Jared Leto's Joker on the side, put the final cherry on the cake. The only let down for DC, was casting Ben Affleck as Batman, though we are saved the torture of his presence, as his appearance in this movie is relatively small. It's not often DC make a good live action movie, but this one does hold the ranks.

Book Rating
Objectively, I feel the book deserves 4 stars, but gr ratings are supposed to be based on your enjoyment, which was a 1 or 2 for me.

I’ve read other books featuring mental illness, the aftermath of atomic bombs, self harm, abuse. I don’t know why I felt so repulsed by this one, but I did. It isn’t a bad book-it’s very good actually, but I hated it.

This was an ARC I received in a giveaway. (Not via goodreads)

I loved this show, watched it since day one, always trying to guess who A was, always getting it wrong ha! Loved the characters and their story lines the last few seasons got really good and more ‘darker’ and then we found out who A really was and I’m not sure I enjoyed the ending I feel like more could have been done, that or I’m just in denial that’s the end haha

Rolling Stone's 490th greatest album of all time
I was expecting this to be the long-bearded gimmicky hard rock funsters, however I quite enjoyed this. It reminded me of Clutch, a fantastic band, with a real blues/bluegrass feel. In actual fact, Clutch had covered Precious and Grace as part of their Weathermaker Vaults series. And the vocals on La Grange has clearly influence Tim Sult's style.
A good mix of blues and hard rock and fair above my expectations.
