I just felt I missing *something*
Independent reviewer for BookSirens, I was gifted my copy of this book.

This appears to be a spin off series, in the Gen-Heirs world. I need to comment at that before I start.

For ME, and I stress ME, I think I maybe should have read some other books in this world to get the feel of it fully. I found myself feeling (and ya'll know about me sharing my book feelings!) I was missing some vital information that I should know about this world. At more than one point, I thought I had missed something but no, it was jusy dropped in like I knew what they were talking about.

The most obvious one, was what happened to the world almost a thousand years ago. I have know no idea, not a single clue as to what happened. Did I miss something along the way? I dunno. But book feelings are important to share and I'm-a sharing.

What I did like, though, was that this was a different world and the rules are different. They think nothing of contracting out a marriage a year, and then they move on. Or I should say, the powers that be do. Sienna struggled. Dominik comes along, as bodyguard for a mission, and she is thrown for a loop when he changes the contract to 5 years. But Dominik is a Beast Master, to Alisater, a hawk. The animal knows before the person does.

I liked that Dominink let Sienna call all the shots in their personal relationship. He let her know that he WOULD touch her, but only when she asked. And he waits. He lets Sienna, at every point, move their relationship along. I loved that she trusted him enough to do that. It gets steamy and smexy once Sienna really lets Dominik in.

I liked that both Sienna and Dominik get a say, as does Alisater when he's talking to Dominik. The bird has opinions! You get into both their minds, as they navigate this new contract, the mission and their growing feelings.

I think I'll read something else by this author, maybe about Dominik's siblings. I might find what I'm missing here.

A thoroughly enjoyable 4 star read

the game is all about being efficent in your combos.

Lots of good choices, I love the Learning curve, good meatier game.
I really enjoyed this game. So much so that we played it again directly after playing it the first time. This game is really about combos and efficiency of your decisions. your get 3 turns and each turn takes 3 or 4 seconds, so really the play time is based around the time to make decisions, which is where the game slows down. there is a lot to consider to play it well, the first game we played we scoried in the 50's, the 2nd game around 100, so we doubled our score in learning after the first game. I hesitate to say too much here because the discovery of the game was a big part of the fun for me and my wife. This is not a cop out from leaving a review. But the more I talk specifically the less you will discover. Just know that there a lot of push and pull on your options. This game feels like nothing else specifically, but has fragmented feelings of Lewis and Clark, T'zolkin, and maybe Castles of Burgundy..... I don't mean it's an amalgomation of those games, more that those games give me the feelings of playing this game. I hope this helps and I hope you give it a try, it's got the best kind of brain burn.

Mia Ferrari is a London-based singer-songwriter and Instagram star from Portugal. Not too long ago, she released a lovely electro-pop tune, entitled, “Where U From”.

“Baby tell me where ya from. Can’t tell from ya accent. Bite my lips, tasting ya tongue. Still, don’t know what ya meant. Tryna translate when you text. Hope I don’t regret it. Got so much I wanna say. Not sure if you’ll get it.” – lyrics

Every time Mia meets someone, it doesn’t take too long for that someone to ask her, “Where you from? Because I can’t tell from your accent.”

Her “Where U From” single tells an interesting tale of a young woman who shares a special relationship with a foreign guy whose whispers melts her heart.

Apparently, even though his spelling is okay, he communicates better with his tongue, and his hands talk dirty.

In need of a trip, she finds out where he’s from on the map because she plans on vacationing there soon. Later that night, the guy takes her one thousand miles away, around the world, and now she sees where he comes from.

‘Where U From’ contains a dreamy storyline, ear-welcoming vocals, and dance-friendly instrumentation flavored with an electro-pop aroma.

“Regardless of language, feelings emerge and we can only try our best to show them. ‘Where U From’ reflects thoughts and feelings during that time. Also, the choice of transitioning from talking within a language to talking with the body, hoping not to get lost in translation.” – Mia Ferrari

Different worlds, dragons, elves, evil yet misguided women - what more could you ask for?

Now, this is the first 'full' book in the Kingdom of Chalvaren series, although there is the novella in which our two main characters meet. What made this book interesting for me is that they were already 'together' right at the start. So although I knew that things had moved quickly in the prequel, it actually made for fantastic reading as the two of them got to know each other and explored their feelings for each other. Trust me when I say those feelings run hot! Their relationship has the normal ups, downs and misunderstandings that occur when two people are trying to live together and that made for excellent reading. Throw in a world in chaos, with a crazy woman trying to resurrect the dead along with killing the dragons, you have an action-packed world, full of character and heart.

With a smooth, steady pace and excitement on every page, this is a wonderful Fantasy Action Romance. I know that there are two books in this series but I am really hoping for more. I loved the world of Chalvaren and hope to see more of it, and the dragons, in the future. Highly recommended for all fans of Fantasy!

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *

A book to help if you are struggling
A friend of mine going through a hard time recommended this book. I'm not usually one for reading non-fiction books but as my friend found it useful and I wanted to help her, I decided to read it. It's not a difficult read (although it's an emotional read) nor a long read. It tells Matt's own tale of wanting to die and how he moved on from that. Knowing how my friend was struggling (and found it difficult to communicate her feelings), I found this emotional, reading how someone could feel so low, could contemplate ending their life. It opened my eyes to how my friend might be feeling and helped me communicate with her.
