Greta Gerwig’s directorial debut Is truly a spectacular one. Lady Bird is a masterpiece of simplicity. The simply story of a typical teenage girl trying to find who she is and what she wants. The love-hate relationship of Christine and her mother showcasing their struggle to demonstrate of perhaps understand their feelings added a much welcome layer of interesting plot on top of the typical struggles of an awkward high schooler.

If anything, I believe you can learn a few things from this film about forming and maintaining relationships with your parents or child(ren) in hope that when your time with them comes to a close you’ll have no regrets.

Bad dog!
Cujo taps into a lot of those primal feelings with animals and relationships. Stephen King takes this St Bernard and turns it into a killer but he also makes you understand why the dog is acting the way that it is acting. You get to view the world through the lens of the dog's eyes and the through the dog's thoughts as well.

On the other side of the coin is the family that used to the own the dog and of course the Trentons. Both family are sucked into the horror and neither come out the same. This is a classic work of Stephen King's but it is tough to swallow if you are not ready for it.

Eleanor & Park
Eleanor & Park
Rainbow Rowell | 2016 | Young Adult (YA)
Nothing like I expected from the very beginning. I got this book because a search had said it was a "fluff book". There was no way this was a fluff book, but I'm totally not mad about it.

The hardships from the very beginning of Eleanor, the differences between her and Park and the way that their relationship blossomed and changed her outlook and behaviour and feelings was a joy to read.

It was upsetting, it was a struggle, it was great, it was beautiful, it was sweet, it was all the emotions. It was upsetting...did I say that already. Ugh, but boy did I love it. So good, first book from this author, I'll definitely have to read more.

Not as good as the book
It was a good representation of the book, however it kind of droned on and was slow paced.
The book involved a lot more in-depth description of Elio and his feelings towards Oliver even though it was also quite slow paced. The depth of how the book was written though made up for it, as it kept you wanting to read it more.
I would most likely watch the film again as it is still quite good and is a great coming of age movie. Furthermore, there were some funny moments within the movie.
Would recommend the movie, however I think that the book is definitely worth reading as it portrays it a lot better

The Story of a Stray Cat and Her Car
Josephine, a stray cat, has finally found a home in Jennifer’s backseat. Jennifer is a car left in a corner of a junk yard. However, their lives change when a traveling salesman buys Jennifer one day. He’s always in a hurry. What will that mean for Jennifer and Josephine?

This is another of Bill Peet’s odd couple books, and Josephine’s devotion to Jennifer is very touching. We get this story from the cat’s point of view, although we occasionally get glimpses into Jennifer’s feelings. The story is definitely from a slower, simpler time, and that leads to a story that drags a little in the middle, but that’s the only real complaint here.

Read in one sitting!? Kristy has done it again... beautiful, moving, painful, heartbreaking, sexy.. there are just not enough words to describe the feelings when reading this book. Touching on very intense and personal subjects, she handles it beautifully. The pain, torment and fear that Haddie deals with shows you a new side to this crazy and full of life character, who is so weighed down by her fears and wanting to protect those she loves, yet she just can't admit how much she needs them too. Then, of course, there are some Rylee and Colton appearances, which is like seeing old friends. Can't say enough how much I loved this book... I cried, I laughed... wow, Kristy, just WOW!?

Adoption Stories: Real Life Experiences

MoMo’s Book Diary recommends Ann Morris’ “Adopting – The Real Story” as a fascinating 5 star read for anyone with an interest in adoption.

Ann Morris has updated her earlier book The Adoption Experience which was published in 1999. I found this an emotional and highly insightful book which shares a wide range of voices and experiences, good and bad, but anyone considering adoption would find this a very useful tool.

Adoption touches so many people on a daily basis, be it as birth parent, adoptee or adopter. Processes may have changed over the years but human feelings are still as raw and scary as ever - on all fronts.

I would like to thank NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book ahead of publication.

Eventhough this book was pure fluff I still really enjoyed it. A really light, easy read, with a simple plot and some likeable characters. This sends a good message to teens that it's what's on the inside that counts not the outside. My reason for removing a star was that I found in some places it contradicted itself and the whole popularity struggle got a bit annoying. Jade wants to be recognised as an individual whilst hating on the 'Barbies' but says she's just a normal person with feelings... then why hate? That goes for all of you...if you're all so good and want fair treatment...why hate? Apart from that...I liked it and the quotes at the beginning of each chapter were great.

I watched this show last month, when it was finally put on Netflix (US). I keep bouncing between wanting to rate it a 7 or an 8. I feel like the show didn't quite live up to the hype. The weird, and frankly, unnecessary fling in it struck me as kind of off... I mean, I guess it was so the characters had more feelings towards each other? I watch a lot of films/shows, and I did kind of figure who was pulling all of the strings after the school was bombed. It had a very '24' vibe. I liked that it was a short season, and honestly, it doesn't need to be continued, it was good as a limited series.

Zombieland: Double Tap (2019)
Zombieland: Double Tap (2019)
2019 | Action, Comedy, Horror
I have mixed feelings at the unnecessary Zombieland sequel. I loved the original Zombieland. It was smart to take a lot from the original for this sequel, so, it was very much the same. I can't decide if that was a good or a bad thing.

Zoey Deutch's character was super annoying, and reminded me of all the basic b*s in 2009. I also found the doppleganger thing, and relentless repeating of the rules similarly annoying.
The zombie kills were cool, and I did like the way they were explaining the different sorts of zombies.

Overall, I liked it, but it was much of the same. I guess if it ain't* broke, don't fix it.
* I do not use ain't IRL, but it's the saying.
