Lost Property was not at all what I expected. I thought it was going to be a light, cheery read about people being reunited with their lost property. This book is so much more than that.
Dot is a person who has become lost. Her loneliness seeps out of every page, her feelings of guilt are relatable (if misguided) and the fact that she doesn’t feel good enough about herself to live the life that she wants to live, is heartbreaking.
The writing is beautiful.
There was more than one occasion where I found myself close to tears. Dot is a character who does her best to make other people feel better - whether that’s her co-workers, those looking for their lost items, her mother in a nursing home, or her seemingly interfering older sister. But she neglects herself.
This book is about Dots journey to finding herself again, and it is wonderful.
Many thanks to The Pigeonhole for serialising this, and to Helen Paris for reading along.

"I think it’s one of the funniest movies ever made. I think Charles Grodin is hugely underrated as a comedic actor. I think he’s brilliant. Jeannie Berlin who recently got a lot of attention again because of Kenneth Lonergan’s movie Margaret is amazing in this movie — she was actually nominated for an Oscar for it. Cybill Shepherd is great. I just love it, I love how what a s— the central character is, he’s really totally selfish and also really confused, in a great way. I also love that a lot of the comedy typically in movies like this, with sort of high concept plots, the comedy and the drama are driven by the central character lying to the people around them. But weirdly in The Heartbreak Kid, most of the drama comes from him telling the truth, he’s sort of excessively honest and straight forward, and it still manages to complicate these situations and cause a lot of tension and hurt feelings, but I just love Elaine May, I like all of her movies."

"I know it's not cool to go with a soundtrack album but, if I'm honest, this is hugely influential. The film is so wrapped up with my teenage years; when I first saw it I was the same age as the main character and I was somewhat terrified of being somebody like that. To see someone who's so nerdy and yet full of himself is frightening at that age. You wonder, 'Do I do things like this?' You become so self-conscious at high school, you worry about what your peers think, you're terrified of looking weird, or being weird. Somehow the soundtrack represents those feelings. There's lots of British music on there, like the Faces' "Ooh La La" and "Making Time" by the Creation. I grew up in a very small town, so a lot of kids I went to school with mostly listened to rap and rock from the radio. But I did have a group of friends who appreciated films like Rushmore and music like this."

The protagonist of this book is Isla, she has one arm and is the best friends with Hailey. Isla really wants a kitten, but because of her two little sisters, her mom doesn’t really want to get one. So Isla gets pretty jealous when Hailey gets a second cat in her house. However, the kitten is not happy at all in the new home… I really loved that the author added kitten’s perspective to this book as well. I think children need to be taught that animals have feelings too and they don’t like to be mistreated or chased around.

It is a pretty short book, and the narrative is quite fast-paced but educational and enjoyable. The topics discussed were friendship, and it’s ups and downs, jealousy, territorial issues between cats and many more. The illustrations are very cute, and I really liked them. The chapters have a decent length, and it didn’t leave me bored. I really liked the ending of the book, even though it was predictable.

The movie picks up where the last movie left off. Lara Jean and Peter are officially dating and life is good, but when Lara Jean receives a letter from John Ambrose - the final love letter recipient - she starts to reply but shoves her reply in a drawer and it's forgotten about. That is until John Ambrose shows up at the same place Lara Jean volunteers at and her old feelings come rushing back, she then needs to decide if Peter is the one for her or if it's John Ambrose she wants.
After the perfect ending of the last movie, I felt a sequel wasn't needed but I wanted to watch it anyway, and I was right, a sequel really wasn't needed. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a terrible movie but I felt like it didn't have the same feel as the first one and a lot of the time I felt annoyed at Lara Jean. However, I did have to remember that she's only 16 years old and it shows what many teens that age are going through.

The story of a bride-to-be trying to find her real father told using hit songs by the popular 1970s group ABBA.

My name is Emma, and this is the first time I've seen Mamma Mia.

I did wonder if I was going a bit too far by seeing it in a singalong version, but then... this is me, and I love musicals so I thought, nah.

What can I say about it though? It's a passable film. Entertaining definitely. But let's face it, everyone is really there for the songs and the dancing, not the story. It definitely delivers on that.

I needed to see this one so that I can go see the new one... one of the perils of attempting to see every new films that comes on at my cinema! I'll be taking ear plugs with me to Mamma Mia 2 for every time Pierce Brosnan sings. I have loved that man ever since Goldeneye, but he was making it very difficult to keep those feelings.

Pranked By Arnold
This is one of the baddest movies that Stallone has been in. Its so bad that its good?

The plot: Smarting from a romantic breakup, macho police Sgt. Joe Bomowski (Sylvester Stallone) gets a cross-country visit from his mother, Tutti (Estelle Getty). Her misguided efforts to help only fray his nerves, but that doesn't stop her from nagging Joe to be more open about his feelings toward his ex-girlfriend and current boss, Lt. Gwen Harper (JoBeth Williams). When Tutti witnesses a brutal multiple murder, she takes her meddling to the extreme by tagging along to help her son solve the case.

Sylvester Stallone signed onto the film based on rumors that Arnold Schwarzenegger was interested in the lead. In October 2017, Schwarzenegger confirmed a rumor that, knowing the script was "really bad", he had publicly faked interest in starring for producers to lure Stallone.

So Arnold pranked Stallone to get him into this movie that is so funny.

Dont watch this film, its not good.
