Jaded deals with the after effects of a night out, when Jade (not her real name, but it has stuck because her real name is too hard for people to pronounce 🙄) wakes up in pain, unable to remember the night before. Her boss had been refilling her glass on a staff night out, but she manages to avoid going home with him - which he clearly thought was on the cards. Instead, Josh takes her home. And Jade doesn’t remember anything else.

This is so sensitively dealt with, yet her feelings (physical and emotional), aren’t held back. After her initial physical pain and emotional numbness, comes the devastation of what has happened to her and the fact that she isn’t believed - or worse, the attack is trivialised by others. Not even her boyfriend believes her.

And the casual racism! Her job likes to think they’re diverse but they really aren’t, and they aren’t much help after her attack - especially when they learn who the attacker is.

In to the mix is the added pressure of a high-flying corporate job: the misogyny, power, politics and wealth.

Jaded is a debut, and the writing is captivating. I was drawn in to Jades world and felt outraged for her. There’s a lack of empathy from pretty much everyone that Jade knows.

Honestly, the writing is remarkable. If this is a debut, I can’t wait to see what comes next from Ela Lee.

ACCIDENTALLY MARRYING THE PROFESSOR is part of the multi-author Accidentally Marrying series. This one takes place at an archaeological dig in Ireland, where a team are looking for the remains of a Druid settlement. Norah is a twenty-two-year-old student, and Rowan is the forty-five-year-old Professor. Both of them have feelings for each other, but deny them, refusing to admit to anything out loud. But when the Professor finds an altar and needs Norah's help, they get more than they bargained for, but not more than they hoped.

Told from both their perspectives, you get a lot of story within a few pages. I loved seeing both sides, and the not so much miscommunication, but lack of it. Well, that and thinking that rules are not meant to be broken! Age is just a number, after all.

I have to say, Chapter 3 is my favourite chapter of them all!

Wonderfully hot and steamy, with plenty of love and romance thrown in - not bad when you consider they're digging a pit in the middle of an Irish forest! A great book to enjoy on your coffee break, and absolutely recommended by me.

The Keepers Legacy ( The Keepers 1)
By Meg Anne
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

With everyone she's ever loved dead, Effie's fate is no longer one of her choosing. Overnight, she becomes the newest initiate of the Keepers of Prophecy, a secret order that Sees what the future holds.

War looms for the land of Elysia, unless Effie can prevent it by harnessing her visions and interpreting their meaning. Yet as what she Sees becomes far more dark and sinister, she finds herself no closer to deciphering it.

Forced to rely on her tutor and Guardian, her inner turmoil deepens when feelings within herself - those she thought died with the man she loved - resurface. One would give up everything to be with her. The other challenges her at every turn.

Struggling to focus amidst her awakening desires, Effie fights to unravel the truth buried within her nightmares. Will she discover it in time to be the salvation Elysia needs... or will one wrong reading damn them all?

This is a spin off and continuation of The Chosen series so I highly recommend reading that series first! I liked this I found the new characters interesting. We go on Effies journey as she moves to the Citadel to explore her own visions with the help of a few new friends, we also get a catch up on a few old ones too.

WICKED GAMES is the first book in the Silvercrest U series, and I'm already hooked! Felix and Killian's story ticked all the right boxes for me.

Due to a family tragedy, Felix and Killian are forced to share a room at the University they both attend. This is something neither of them wanted. However, it does mean they see more of each other than is usual. And when I say see more of each other, I mean that in every sense. Felix comes across as fluffy and light, but he has hidden depths, trust me. As for Killian, Jace, and Jax, what you see is what you get. I certainly wouldn't cross any of them!

My heart broke for Felix as he dealt with everything that was thrown at him, and yet I loved how his relationship with the guys changed. Seeing Jace and Jax tuck him under their wing was so good, in a warped and twisted kinda way. I especially loved seeing the small snippets as Killian realised his feelings for Felix were changing.

Such a brilliant start to the series. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and I can't wait to return to Silvercrest U!
