This book seems to be a spin-off form the author's series Less Than Zero. Those guys pop up here, but I didn't think I missed anything by not reading them before this one.
I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this book, and you all know I'm all about sharing the book feelings. So, I'm gonna say what I liked, and maybe what didn't work will wing it's way out.
I liked that both Jordan and Peter are given a voice, although that first meeting was all from Jordan. I loved that we did NOT get that first meeting, in all its glory, right as it happened. I loved that it comes in memories from both of them. I think had we had it all at the beginning, I might have dumped this one, so well played to the author for not doing that. I loved the way it all comes out along the way.
It's steamy and smexy, oh yes but I found the emotional connection a little lacking in the beginning. But then again, 10 years since their first encounter would stunt anyone's connection.
There was a lot of misunderstanding and miscommunication between these two. I'm not sure whether that worked for me or not, to be honest!
I'm gonna wrap up: I liked this book, I finished it. Will I go back and read the series this spins off? Not at this time.

If you like books with Golden Retriever energy, then you've picked up the right one, as this one is FULL of it. Hudson is the captain of the Werewolves, and thinks he has the perfect life, until he gets served by his soon-to-be ex-wife on camera. Adrian is gay and flirts with everyone, so no one feels left out. He has also had a massive crush on Hudson for years. He steps in to help when Hudson is still stunned, and it goes from there.
This a SLOW BURN in every sense of the word, concentrating more on emotions, damned feelings, and connections, rather than hot s3x. Although, when they do? It's hot. Just saying. These two are the biggest green flags out there. Both of them want to care for others, showing their love in quiet ways, like serving a meal instead of making them dish their own. I mean, yes, they have their flaws too. Both were so afraid of rocking the boat, it about killed me.
A low-angst, slow burn of a book that I thoroughly enjoyed and have no hesitation in recommending.

Daphne doesn't know magic exists, but then, she does have other things on her mind, such as her crooked boss, who may have had her friend killed. With perfect timing, she is notified that she has won a holiday on Darkaway Island. It is her neighbour who encourages her to go. So she does. When she gets there, she realises that maybe there is more in the world than she had thought.
Travis is a werewolf actor who is recognised pretty much by everyone but Daphne. Due to complications from his dead father, he is the bachelor for a new show, Date-a-Wolf. And wouldn't you know it, Daphne is dragged into it too.
This was a light, easy read with a kooky island and characters. The pacing was smooth and flowed nicely, especially in the scenes with Travis and Daphne, as their feelings grew beyond what was expected in the show. There were some parts that felt superfluous to me, but that's just my opinion.
If you're looking for a cosy paranormal rom-com with a bunch of great characters, then this may be just for you. Personally, I am looking forward to returning to Darkaway Island, hopefully, with all my memories intact!
