"Taken together, Edward Yang’s two masterpieces run nearly seven hours. I would give almost anything for more of either. Mathematically structured and teeming with ideas, characters, wisdom, and feeling, they move with astonishing humanity through every big thing: love, family, alienation, technology, cinema, politics, globalism, history, regret, obsession, murder, sex, time, adolescence, and so much more. Despite their novelistic hugeness, Yang’s genius feels approachable rather than impossible. (As opposed to Hou Hsiao-hsien, for example.) This quality also inspires the tantalizing thought that, hey, I could do that. No, no I can’t. I really encourage listening to the wonderful commentaries on both: Edward Yang and critic Tony Rayns for Yi Yi, and, in an act of epic insight, Rayns solo for A Brighter Summer Day."

"My favorite Fellini movie changes as I age. At various times in my life, I might have cited 8½, The White Sheik, Amarcord, even Casanova or City of Women. The movies don’t change, of course. The viewer changes. And now La dolce vita speaks to me in its sweep and totality. As a younger man, I probably only responded to the higher-energy scenes, the orgy, the press corps, Ekberg. But now, at fifty-two, I’m flooded with sadness by the visit from Marcello’s father, and the Steiner storyline and the final moments provoke existential dread. The title used to seem like a winking joke to me. Now it feels more like a punch in the stomach. La dolce vita is forever."

I loved Colt and Jace; they were so sweet with each other. I even cried twice. I wanted to punch Colt at one bit for suggesting what he did and I didn't blame Jace for trying to leave.

I feel like I also have to mention Colt's dad. He is a homophobic arsehole!

My rating has gone down half a star because of the ending. It feels like the story hasn't been finished to me. Now if it had been Colt's dad, then it might have felt more complete and I'd have given it four stars but with it being left open...

I liked Mitch, and I'm wondering if his will be the next story in the series.

After three (?) months I've finally finished Gotham High and I have some thoughts.

1) Why the tweak to the death of Bruce's parents?

I mean, the Wayne's deaths are iconic why mess with it?

2) Why the role changes?

Uncle Alfred? What happened to the snarky English butler?

3) BARBIE GORDAN???

I think this explains itself and no, it never said this was just her nickname.

4) it feels like they dropped Alfred's husband in for the sake of look representation. I mean, he's only on a few pages and doesn't do much.

In all, this wasn't like what the trailer led me to think. It's not bad just really, really, really different and I'm not sure how to feel about that.
