This isn’t horror in the traditional sense, but make no mistake; it’s a horror film. It’s a visceral assault on every level; there’s a claustrophobic, atmospheric dread that tests your nerves

11 year old Mildred is determined to grow a giant pumpkin and enter it in the Circleville pumpkin festival. A great book for kids that really drew me in.

Beach Festival Interrupted by Murder
It’s mid-August in Ocean Crest, New Jersey, and Lucy Berberian is on the planning committee for this year’s beach festival. Unfortunately, Archie Kincaide is proving to be a pain during the week. He owns a shop on the boardwalk, and he and his neighbor have been feuding since Archie moved to town. He’s also been causing problems for Lucy’s friend Katie, not only at the festival but also at her job at city hall. Taking a break one afternoon, Lucy is walking on the beach when she discovers Archie’s body under the boardwalk. It’s clear he’s been shot, but who did it? With Katie among Detective Clemmons’s suspects, Lucy jumps in to figure out what really happened.

This is another fun mystery. While we have two obvious suspects before Lucy finds Archie’s body, we quickly get more, and I enjoyed how the plot unfolded. The climax was a lot of fun. I do wish the supporting cast of the series were better developed; I like them, but I feel like most are still not as developed as they could be. That isn’t true for Lucy or the suspects, who manage to keep us guessing. And I loved the location. I can easily picture myself enjoying an annual vacation in Ocean Crest, and the added fun of the beach festival made me long to go stick my feet in some warm sand myself. There are 3 delicious sounding recipes to be enjoyed once you’ve finished the book.

"It was a zombie movie, it had Bill Murray leading an all-star cast, it was at the most prestigious film festival in the world, and the trailers actually looked pretty good, what could go wrong?"

Guess how i spent my day. Looking at trailers for films that have been submitted to my film festival. Over 80 films submitted arranging from 59mins to 130mins long with trailers.
If you are a film maker please asking me about trailers to films. You would be surprise how many people dont know what should be in a trailer. I have not even start to go threw ones without trailers. Also if you submit to Festivals follow their rules. I love rejecting films getting a email asking why. Sorry for the rant. This is Festival is family friendly and i got entries about porn business, about murder, horror flicks and more stuff i would not show to my kids or other kids.

I’d call it more unsettling than straight horror, although there’s an ongoing motif about Harrison being haunted by nightmares, which are truly shocking to watch and intriguingly photographed in a different aspect ratio

"I had the privilege of being a member of a festival jury led by Jean Renoir, and subsequently replaced him as a cameo actor in a film. (There obviously were no physical requirements for the role.) I think Grand Illusion may be the most humanistic film ever made, but it’s no more humane than its creator."

Roberta “Robbie” Jordan is busy running her country store/café and has newly opened her B&B for business. Her first guests at the B&B include her father Roberto and his wife Maria visiting from Italy plus a few musicians in town for a bluegrass festival.

On the first night of the festival, Roberta and Maria recognize one of the performers as a young woman named Pia from their town in Italy. Pia is later found choked to death by a banjo string and there are many suspects that the police are looking at including Robbie’s father and stepmom, her boyfriend Abe, and the festival chairperson Sue. Can Robbie find the real murderer before someone she loves is booked for murder?

This is a cozy mystery with a strong female lead who has a knack for amateur sleuthing. The rest of the ensemble of characters include the usual quirky and witty townspeople, a laundry list of potential suspects, and for once a few police officers that are not bumbling idiots. It has a good plot and the author has a nice flow to her writing style. While this is a few books into the series, it can easily be read as a standalone without the reader getting confused by the storyline.

Lee's step-son comes for a visit during a winter festival. When he finds himself accused of a string of robberies that end in murder, Lee has to step in to clear him. Another delicious romp with a resort town full of murder.

"Another black and white, this one from Belgium, 1992. I think I saw it at the Toronto Film Festival with Quentin Tarantino. It’s a hilariously dark, fake documentary about a serial killer and his concerned friends and family. It’s not for everybody, but it genuinely shocked me while I laughed my ass off. Kudos to directors Rémy Belvaux, André Bonzel, and Benoît Poelvoorde."
