graveyardgremlin (7194 KP) rated The Tidal Poole (Elizabeth I, #2) in Books
Feb 15, 2019
Not the most plausible series, but it is entertaining and that's why it's called fiction. I did enjoy the first book better, but The Tidal Poole kept me reading and the mystery was well-done. If you're a history buff, better skip it, but if you enjoy reading just for the sake of reading, I recommend the series. :)

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2470 KP) rated Facing Your Giants in Books

A Christian non-fiction book that uses the life of David to encourage and challenge the reader to conquer the giants in their lives. Author Max Lucado is a master at making the obvious extraordinary. Just what I needed.

Truth or fiction??

Found this series very enjoyable - maybe a bit too close to possible reality. The main storyline is gripping, and so are the subplots. The ending made me wonder if Grace is likely to join forces with Hicks and Renko. Presuming - hoping - there will be a second series.

I really liked the characters but I think a few could have been more developed. There was a definate flow to the story and a build to a climax. Some points it seemed too much like an action film but it is fiction. Overall it was an enjoyable face paced read. There may be some triggers when it comes to domestic abuse though.
Jake (52 KP) rated The Three-Body Problem in Books

Fun and unique. I enjoyed reading a book that had been written in another language initially, kind-of eye-opening. I like the premise, but it's a little slow at some points and at other points it seems a little... too technical. Often I got confused on which character was which. But worth checking out if you are into contemporary science fiction!!!
