Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2387 KP) rated Hen of the Baskervilles (Meg Langslow, #15) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Meg is the assistant direct at the Un-fair, a local alternative to the state fair. The first morning things get off to a rough start with some vandalism and theft, including two heritage chickens from the chicken tent. Throw in tension in the wine pavilion and things are hoping before the dead body shows up.
While I didn't find this one as laugh out loud funny as some of the previous entries, I did really enjoy it. The plot was good and the characters - new and old - were fun. Meg's twins stole every scene they were in, too. Fans of the series or lighter cozies in general will love it.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2387 KP) rated If You Ever Want to Bring a Piano to the Beach, Don't! in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Magnolia is back, and this time, she’s decided to bring the piano on a family beach day. What could be better than that? Her mom is concerned that Magnolia will lose it, but that won’t be an issue. Or will it?
While this book has the same wacky fun that Elise used in her first picture book, I didn’t have the same reaction to it. I just couldn’t buy the craziness, maybe because I’m so familiar with pianos. However, I think the target audience will love it. The picture are wonderful, and the situations that Magnolia gets into are still absurd. Once again, the book is actually narrated in the second person.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2387 KP) rated Maple Mayhem (Sugar Grove Mystery, #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Dani is working to set up a co-op for the syrup harvesters in her area so some of the smaller businesses can stay afloat. But someone has started to sabotage the farms that plan to join. But when murder gets added to the mix, Dani really has to dig in and figure out what is happening.
Despite several rounds of sabotage, this book started out a little slowly with an emphasis on Dani’s love life over the mystery. However, things really picked up in the second half. The characters were great once again, and I enjoyed spending time with them, which kept the first half from dragging too much.

Sarah (7800 KP) rated Bridget Jones's Baby: The Diaries in Books
Feb 16, 2018 (Updated Feb 16, 2018)
Tired and unoriginal
The first two Bridget Jones books were fantastic and so much fun. Sadly this doesn't quite meet up to it's predecessors.
Very similar to Mad About the Boy, this book brings us back the Bridget we know and love, but it all seems a little bit tired and been there, done that. Bridget never seems to learn from her mistakes, and she's getting to be a little bit predictable. This isn't a bad book, it's well written and entertaining enough to keep you reading. It plods along at too quick a pace though and is far too short. More would have been so much better. Or it may have been better not to write this at all and instead leave us with the fond memories of Bridget from the Edge of Reason.

The 1st I ever read and still one of my favorites.
This was the first Stephen King novel that I ever read. I was proably in fifth or sixth grade, and my brother had been reading Stephen King books for years. I picked up his copy of Christine that he had checked out of the library and started reading. I was hooked and for a long time I was current with everything that SK wrote.
Christine is still a favorite of mine.
Boy fall sin love with possessed car. Possessed car gives boy confidence and his life gets better. Car gets jealous of boys relationships (all of them) and starts to make life much worse then it was to begin with.
I still want 58 Plymouth Fury... White over Red... cool vanity plate.

Ya'll I cannot express my love for RL Mathewson - nor this series - I've probably read the entire series twice and the first few books about 5 times, I just recently listened to this audiobook and I just, I need more - RL just keeps stealing my money and it should make me sad but truly, it doesnt - and her interaction with fans is impeccable. Jason will always be my favourite Bradford and the epilogue was probably my favourite part of the book - mostly, and the use of YOU BASTARD just was undeniable in this book.. seriously, obsessed - also I think there's a reference to hollywood hearts book 1 in there - which even after I read this book multiple times I just now noticed, I clearly need help - read this series .. do it NOW

Before we get into this review I just wanted to let you guys know that I know my posting has been all over the place at the moment, but bear with me, just trying to crack this final year stuff so I apologise in advance and until I finish uni there's going to be no sort of posting schedule so just bear with me and we'll get through this together!
Harry Potter.....the love of my life.
I have to say re-reading the series is bringing back all sorts of memories from when I first read it in secondary school, hiding behind library shelves and reading it every single moment I got.

This powerful tale takes readers on a harrowing, unforgettable journey into the nightmare of parental abuse and the darkness of mental illness. Written by a woman who endured horrendous abuse from her mother and became a split personality by the age of five, here is the story of her agonizing childhood, the conflicting personalties, and struggle back to sanity.
Marcia was a toddler when she first recalls the abuse. Her mother a devoted Hitler youth , who moved to America. Didnt love her daughter because she was half Jewish and looked so. This book is not for the weak of heart. You will be moved and emotional at how a mother can do this and the struggle Marcia faced to get to "normal" life.

Lindsay (1774 KP) rated Botticelli's Bastard in Books
Aug 30, 2018 (Updated Apr 9, 2019)
This my first in this kind of book dealing with art and history. It a good book and interesting. It deals with Germany and take over of Europe in the 1940's. I liked the idea of the painting talking and telling detail about his owners. That what is been so neat about it. I love the fact that Giovanni started with a discovery of stolen art.
Giovanni has some family problems that it so funny in a way that he find a discovery to lift his spirit. The author was good and i enjoyed the book. I rate this book at 4 1/2 stars. Those the painting stories about himself is so funny that you want to laugh. It makes you want to find out more of they mystery of the painting.

I fell in love with King & Elena's story in Unrequited and had been left on a killer cliffhanger!? Dove right in, dying to find out the rest of this incredible story. Elena is back in the hands of her psychotic husband Carlos, while left waiting for King to save her and their future. King is trying to make his way back to her while attempting to sort out Club business and gain that VP patch. He has to find a balance and otherwise he'll never be able to keep her... As in the first book, there is a ton going on in this series!? This book tore my heart out and kept me on the edge of my seat from page one... didn't want to put it down!? HIGHLY recommended book, series & author!!!
