It was love from the first sentence. I will now be seeking out more of Backman's writing, the style is just so darn readable. It is snarky, and funny, and heartwarming, and heartbreaking.

Auburn (57 KP) rated Wilder Girls in Books

Brutal is the first word that comes to mind for this book. It is unapologetic and brutal. There is no sugar coating instead there is blood, pus, and all other sorts of bodily fluids to make you cringe. Add in some girl on girl love and you have a feminist book for the ages.

i was so surprised i liked this novel. actually, it's three short stories. i almost didn't get it because it looked like it was geared toward love sick 14 year olds. but Taylor has a beautiful writing style and i liked that i could tell she was from the NW in the first few pages.
Trish (4 KP) rated Red Ruby Heart in a Cold Blue Sea in Books

This coming of age story is set in a small town in Maine. There is some mystery but mostly it is the story of a young girl dealing with tragedy, heartbreak, and growing up. I fell in love with Florine and hope that the rest of her life goes smoother than her first 17 years!
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2204 KP) rated Trixie Belden 3-Book Set (Trixie Belden #1-3) in Books

The first three books in the series introduce many of the main characters and give us three great mysteries, too. I still love this series, so I highly recommend you see where it all began.

Abby is running her first Confectionary Competition. It's a struggle even before Savannah returns to town and is murdered. Again, the pacing wasn't quite what it could have been, but I love the characters.
