"I have friends who never read books, and so when they ask me what they should pick up first, I always give them this one. I tell them there are some books that are like drugs, and will give you a quick hit, but if you want something that will stay with you and resonate for a long while afterward, then try this. I read it for school, and it speaks to the power of the book that I could analyze the bugger out of it and still not fall out of love with it."

"I’m a gigantic music fan. I love fifties rock‘n’roll, Chess, Sun, Motown. All the Merseybeat bands, Sixties girl groups, folk. This is just so cool: it’s a combination of the way it’s produced, the cool pop/R&B sound, and Freda’s voice. Its kinda kitschy in a way – y’know, it’s got a really up-tempo tune – and, the first few times I heard it, I was, like, totally into the coolness of the song. It was only on the third or fourth listen I realised the lyrics were so fucking heartbreaking"

Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey (1991)
Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey (1991)
1991 | Action, Comedy, Sci-Fi
Take everything good about the first movie, add William Sadler in what is surely his most iconic performance ever, members of Faith No More, a performance from goddam Primus (!), a sequence in hell that's genuinely unnerving as shit, evil robot versions of Bill and Ted, Hal Landon Jr's weirdly accurate impression of Ted, and a sprinkling of Pam Grier, and you get an absurdly wild sequel that tries to one up it's predecessor at every turn, and mostly succeeds.

Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey is a ride. Love it.

"I normally wouldn’t find myself reading a Young Adult novel, but when something is as suspenseful and well written as this one, why not? The story is about a 17-year-old girl named Zoe who’s still in shock from a year’s worth of traumatic events. She gets involved with someone she’s not supposed to, and it makes her question whether she should or shouldn’t take a gamble on what might be perfect love. I’m sure they’ll make a movie about this eventually, but read the book first!"

"Do I have to say anything? I don’t know if I’ve ever met anyone who didn’t love this film. There’s a reason it ran for over a year in one theater near me growing up in New York (as well as a reason its distributors tried to dump it, since it was so resolutely odd and unique . . . and wonderful). Having Bud Cort do a cameo in my first feature was a private dream come true. A film to live by, this affected and inspired me as much as a person as as a filmmaker."

Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

"That hits home for my sci-fi nerd self side of myself. I love the first one, A New Hope — that’s where it all started. But, Empire was just so awesome. I always remember watching Empire and being like, “Man, this movie is awesome from top to bottom.” So many good battles between Luke and Vader. Luke getting his arm chopped off — it’s a cold blooded movie. Return of the Jedi is awesome too. But, without Empire Strikes Back, I don’t know if Jedi would’ve even been a thing. So much Billy Dee Williams, too."

"My introduction to Cassvettes. It’s an opus. I liked it but I did not love it the first time I saw it. The movie takes patience but then you realize that’s the genius of it, the imitative way it puts the audience in a kind of narrative stupor. And once you’re there, it runs you through every emotion. So good luck with that. Also, Gena Rowlands is a goddess who walks among us. Of all the tributes to Cassavetes, this is surely the most minor but . . . my cat is named Mabel. Similar behavior."

"My daughter Tyson and I went to hear Allende talk in Stockholm at Kulturhuset, which was great. I love her so much, and often think about her telling us how in the first days of January every year she starts a new book. I adore the picture of her always dressed up to the nines in heels and makeup, walking out to her shed in back of her garden... like a warrior going into battle... and then giving like people me a chance to fly with those tales... “Daughter of Fortune” is a fantastic adventure."

I'm not good with praise, because it all feels fake, but there's NO way I can NOT try to write a review! Too Late is certainly different by Colleen's standards, but I think it may be my favorite CoHo story yet. From the first page, I was hooked. The fact that I had to wait for chapters didn't stop me from becoming obsessed. I hate Asa, but as the Queen herself has said, I love to hate him. Sloan and Luke are just perfect together. Another masterpiece well done!

Not much to say here as this remake is one of those rare beasts that's very good but not quite as good as the original.
The acting from the two leads is superb and the blossoming romance believable, the films pacing is also similar to the original.
Lovers of the first film may pass this one by as to not spoil their connection with it, however those not having encountered the original will be in for a treat as this vampire love story beats anything twilight has to offer.
