I was under the impression Grey would be all three Fifty Shades kind of thrown into one book, only in Christian's point of view. That misconception was my own fault. I was still disappointed, though. I felt bored reading most of it, especially because it felt like there wasn't much difference between reading it and reading Fifty Shades again. There weren't many scenes without Anastasia, so it was almost as if everything was just flipped, instead of feeling like I was experiencing it for the first time. Also, it was nowhere near as "down and dirty" as other readers made it out to be - at least, not in my opinion. Overall, I wasn't too happy with Grey.

Around the world in 80 days.

One of Jules Vernes most famous novels, and the inspiration for many a movie (and even a 80s cartoon).

I've never seen or heard of a TV series until this one, which - in retrospect - actually surprised me quite a bit, as you think the story would (and does) lend itself perfectly to the episodic nature of the journey.

This adaptation stars David Tennant in the lead role, alongside strong support from Ibrahim Koma as the French valet Passepartout and Leonie Benesch as the gender flipped/reimagined journalist Abigail Fix (instead of Inspector Fix), while still keeping its late Victorian setting.

Yes, you know how it is going to end.

Still very enjoyable!

A slight improvement over season 8
The revelation of the Whisperers to me was an outstanding moment. The split second when a tense but fairly standard fight against a herd of zombies suddenly flipped on its head was fantastic. I have re-watched that scene a number of times. The remainder of the series was a slight step up from the previous one, but with still some issues around pacing (do we really care about crop rotation?!). I think the writers had learned their lesson over the build up of the next enemy - we were quickly introduced to the whisperers, when the introduction to the saviours dragged on and on.
The TV series is rapidly catching up on the comics though, which is a slight worry.

Series 1 was definitely better than series 2. I loved Hannah telling her stories through the tapes. I was good how everyone found out about each other's stories and how they impacted each other. It was very specific in the order that the tapes were played. I really felt for Hannah and understood the decisions he makes. The ending was so sad but it was understanding why she killed herself.
In the 2nd series I wanted certain people to get what they deserved and they didn't. It was hard to keep track of what was happening. When people were lying in court I wanted to walk into the court room and tell people the truth.

I've reread the book, its been a couple of years. As an introduction to Discworld this is a good place to start. I really enjoy the fact that you don't have to read the Discworld series in order to grasp the main themes and ideas, most of the story arcs are self contained.
Samuel Vines is one of my favorite characters.
If you want a popular fantasy trope(s) flipped on its head this is a great series to read. Funny and surprisingly deep this story is an enjoyment for all. It's an adult book and it does deal with some dark things like alcoholism and other adult themes, but I'd let my nephews read it or I'd read it to them.

Better than expected
I hadn’t heard much about this film and was after a horror film to round off my evening, so thought I’d give this one a go on Netflix and was actually pleasantly surprised. It’s not the best horror I’ve ever seen but it sure isn’t the worst either. It starts off in one direction and by the end has completely flipped into a plot that you weren’t expecting, and for the better.

There are good performances in this although I do think Lily Tomlin was underused, as was Sadie Sink from Stranger Things. The effects are mostly good but there are some slightly dodgy ones at parts. Overall this is just a decent watchable horror that succeeds mainly because it doesn’t end the way you’d expect.

When I first heard they were making a gender-flipped version of "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels," I feared that it could be misogynistic based on the end of the English language remake of the French original. The Frank Oz-directed "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" is a classic comedy with a original twist. This female-centric remake is rarely funny and inoffensive. Anne Hathaway gets to practice three of her Meryl Streep accents. Rebel Wilson plays the uncouth low level con artist piggishly. When the two met on a train to St Tropez where Anne runs elaborate cons on rich tourists, Anne is not threatened but she realizes Rebel could ruin her trade. So she continuously schemes ways to rid herself of the slouch. The whole movie could have ended if Rebel just found a real policeman and unmasked Anne, but that would not make great cinema so we are stuck with this stinker.
