Karin Slaughter goes straight for the jugular with her books! Nothing is sugar coated or wrapped up a pretty little bow. She comes by her work honestly and the picture she paints is dark, demented, and brutal. But it's so close to reality; much more so than books filled with fluffy unicorns and endless rainbows. As depressing and soul-wrenching as it is, Karin makes it work. She pulls you in and hypnotizes you with a fresh, albeit insidious, point of view. "Fractured" deals with the violent murder of a teenage girl, a seemingly-impossible-to-figure-out kidnapping, and a terrifying story of a serial rapist. Karin doesn't hold anything back and I, for one, don't have any complaints! I also enjoy the little snippets of the relationship between Will and Angie - though I must admit, I don't like Angie very much - because it appeals to my romantic side and proves that Karin can be sweet when she wants to be. Two books down, I believe six more to go!

The tale unravels a list of deceptions and prejudices whilst dealing with dark magic and sacrifice. It also deals with love and how deep a love can go, even when circumstances aren't exactly light and fluffy.
It was well-written with no plot holes that I found. The only thing that I found jarred me slightly was the mention of modern technology but that just helped to emphasise the differences between the townies and the forest folk.
A wonderful story that enthralled me, definitely recommended.

You follow Lale a Slovakian Jew and in 1942 each family is required to gove over a worker for Labour camps. In hopes to keep his family safe Lale goes to Prague where he's put in a cattle car and shipped to birkaneau.
The story is sad and hopeful and shows the raw need for survival but also that in times like that we can all pull together.
While the story was good and lovely to read about the writing was bland and off-putting at times. I struggled to get through the entire book and put it down for ages at a time because I just wasn't enamoured by the writing as others were.
If you can't look past bad writing and appreciate the story this book is ok for you, but there are better accounts of that period of history waiting to be read.

<strong>Brilliant</strong>
Wow my anxiety levels reading these stories were through the roof! From the very first to the very last, each story had a new way of making me want to close the book and find something fluffy and happy to read.
Adam Nevill has such an amazing way of bringing you right into the world he's created. Being from Birmingham reading Always in our hearts really struck home as I read about familiar roads I travel daily I was able to feel the anxiety he built up travelling those roads too. The character creation is next to none I just can't believe it's taken this long to read these brilliant stories!!
I had a few sleepless nights also throw a few nightmares in too. They are so dark and twisted playing on emotional and mental well-being of the characters, which are done so well.
Definitely a must read for any Horror fan!!
