Folk horror
Out of the three published books this is the authors least accomplished, however that doesn't stop him being one of the most exciting new authors from the UK.

Devils day is another slice of folk horror based in the sticks up north where everyone knows each other and they also believe in the devil

Folk horror revival.
There has been a few folk horror films in recent years but they have all been pretty much passable. Then from out of nowhere which much fanfare came Midsomer.

It is very good. It works because you can believe it. You are on edge the whole film knowing something is going to happen or be living its all for nothing and it's in your head. Highly recommended

Different vibe to the trailer
Nothing to see here
I saw a trailer for this last year and thought it looked a bit different to mainstream Horror. It didn't get much of a cinema run but as an Eco, environmental Horror wouldn't really appeal to the masses.
Unfortunately from the trailer it looked like it was going to be a rather creepy, errie Horror based on Folk law, old legends. Instead it was pretty basic crazy people in the woods gone a bit trippy. Nicely shot but the story was rather silly in the end.

A pretty good low budget horror from the makers of Wolf Creek. In the vein of the Texas chainsaw massacre. A young couple lost after a trip out on a small boat seek out some shelter only to come across some very odd rural folk. Slow start but a bloody and tense ending make up for it.
