David McK (3369 KP) rated Simulating War: Studying conflict through simulation games in Books
Jun 16, 2024
Well, that was something ... different.
This, essentially, is a scholarly thesis on the use of wargaming in an educational setting - like another reader, I found the first part (about the theory) interesting, the second part - containing example games - less so (perhaps because of my lack of real interest in anything beyond WW1 in the air).
Like being forced to study Shakespeare in school, I found this to somewhat suck the fun out of the activity in question.
Still, YMMV, as the saying goes ...

Roxanne (13 KP) rated Taken by the Minotaur (Taken by the Minotaur #1) in Books
Nov 14, 2018
Not the best erotica I've ever read but not the worst either. I found it to have a bit of a plot which was good and I do like mythology. Some parts I found quite hot but others...not so much. I think it was a bit wasted on me really being from Cornwall...it's a farmer's paradise down here and there are many cows...many, many cows. I must admit I have never found any of them remotely sexy in any way...until they became a steak (medium-rare please) sooo I guess intercourse with a Minotaur just doesn't really do it for me. The only parts I enjoyed was the back story and when I was able to forget that this being was a human/bull creature...with a monster penis.

I wasn't really expecting much from this book, but it delivered. I love the main character. I found the story line to be new and different. You should for sure read this. It was brilliant.

The story was fine, but I found the almost all the characters hard to like.

Sara Cox (1845 KP) rated Cinnamon City in Books

I must admit I thought that this book was going to be more about Marrakech. I found it poorly written and it didn't really capture me to carry on reading. I lost interest quite quickly.
Katey Bassett (610 KP) rated Our Kind of Cruelty: A Novel in Books
Dec 10, 2018
I won this book on a Goodreads Giveaway, I finished it shortly after I started it. I found it extremely chilling and creepy how terrifyingly realistic of a character Mike was throughout the entire story.

The chemistry between Ferrell and Wahlberg is great and you can just imagine they had great fun filming this film. I like both actors a lot and found the film amusing. Good, clean family fun.
