This is a reasonably compelling novel with an interesting premise and intriguing characters. Yet, I found the writing style somewhat pretentious and the outcome of the plot somewhat disturbing. Not an enjoyable read on the whole.

"I found this book so educational in terms of what it must have been like to grow up in America, discovering you need to harbor a secret. And the yearning in these pages is so palpable."

Read after watching TV series. I found it very different, very hard to put down, great characters! This is one of the first comics I have read and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'm in two minds about this book. It centres around a main character who is intentionally detestable and just an all round horrible spineless idiot. This is good in a way as it means the author has done a great job of writing the character, however I think i might have hated him too much as I found him too irritating and frustrating after a while. It's a shame really as I found the rest of the story very interesting and the ending was refreshingly different.

I was totally the same. Hated the protagonist. But I guess maybe the author's trying to ask - did he deserve it?

Rebecca Robbins has returned to her small home town just long enough to sell her mother's roller rink. But when the town handy man is found murdered in the women's bathroom, she realizes she needs to get his murder solved quickly since no one is interested in it. A typical cozy series debut, but I really enjoyed the characters and found the story fun.

This book was very interesting. I liked the concept and I found myself intrigued with the premise of the book. I did like the characters. Even though they were a little too juvenile for me I found that I could relate to them. The characters were interesting. I liked that it was a quick read. I may continue on in the series but I'm still not sure.

Ultimately, I liked the book but I will admit that I am still unsure about the ending.

The third book in Antony Riches Empire series of novels which, while better than the last, if I'm honest I still found to be pretty slow going, plodding and just not really all that exciting.

As before, I could never really connect with any of the characters or with the events described and, as such, just found this to be at times a bit of a tedious read.

3 books in and I've yet to really enjoy the series: maybe it's just not for me!
