I loved the concept of this books and as soon as I heard about it I was intrigued and wanted to read it. I read The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake in a couple of days, which with 3 children rarely happens, so I continued to find it intriguing and compelling throughout.

However, I found the narrative elusive and shadowy which was often frustrating. Whilst I understand that Bender was creating a narrative largely written from the perspective of a child, from whom many things were hidden and secret, I still found that as a reader you were constantly trying to grasp what she was describing and failing. I found this made the book less plausible and destroyed the intrigue turning it into annoying gameplay.

I have read other novels with narratives from the perspective of a child such as The Earth Hums in B Flat, The Book Thief, Mister Pip, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Room etc and found these all to be written far more skillfully than Bender manages here. It is an art to realistically write through the eyes of a child but reveal things to an adult reader through the child's naive perspective of the world. If this is failed to be achieved it can leave the reader feeling frustrated and disillusioned through being led on a journey that is over-constructed and inauthentic.

I hadn't seen previews for this movie but following along with all the other ones in the theme i expected it to be good. However, I just found it average. Not really my cup of tea. Wouldn't rush out to buy it or even watch it again.

A few nice designs, not to everyones taste. Bright, bold colours are used in the pictures, clear instructions to make items for the modern home but I have to say this is not my cup of tea and it wouldn't be found with my sewing books

A nice enough book with 15 large basic quilts to make with great instructions for calculating fabric quanties. If your a beginner like me to quilting you'll find this book ideal. Only thing I didn't like was some of the pictures, as I found them too dark.

Wow! I couldnÂ’t put this book down. Plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing. This is the first book IÂ’ve read by this author. If they are all as good as this, I think IÂ’ve found a new author to read!

One of my favorite films!
This film is one which I can watch time and time again. A good strong story, good acting and a good soundtrack too. It really is a classic in my eyes.

I don't love that artists are paid less than a cent per listen, but that's more the music label than Spotify. (0 more)
Been using Spotify Premium since it debuted in America

Basically porn and violence
I've tried watching this with my husband but found it boring and unnecessary. Every scene is either violent or like watching a badly made porno. I for one and glad this overrated garbage is finished.

Having already mentioned my late arrival to the Lecter franchise I found this to be the weakest entry but still very entertaining and Julianne moore although not as amazing as Jodie Foster, delivers a strong performance and once again Hopkins is as frighteningly evil as Lecter.

A hidden gem
I was scrolling around netflix and found yhis hidden gem. I never heard of it. A lot of big names in this film. It was a fun film to watch and to learn from. Every action you do might effect others, so watch out.
