As an avid reader of novels I've found myself persistently let down with YA novels and I thought the same of Divergent before I had even read it. I got a sample and downloaded the book and finished it in under ten hours. Couldn't put it down. Very good YA novel and an interesting twist on a dystopia. Don't think I will be judging a book by its cover any time soon again

Relatively good at learning what you like to recommend books
With smaller books forces reviews to change their reviews to be less critical (1 more)
Found a few of my reviews have been removed with no notice
Not the first place I will do for book reviews
Overall it is a nice review platform, I would not stake my opinions on a book from what it says, but use it as one resource.

Dark Comedy
I found this movie to be absolutely hilarious. It is dark humor, and not the type of humor for everyone. However, a group of kids in the wilderness trying to save their friend along the way with crazy and unexpected twists and turns proves to be a hilarious match. This movie does contain a lot of sexual comedy, so if that's not your thing, you will probably hate this movie.

Fun for new and old comic fans
This was such an awesome start to a new/reboot series. From start to finish I just found Vol.1 so much fun! The characters are all not only likeable but very relatable and that fact alone made this series one I couldn't put down.
This was also a great start for old school fans and new fans who wanted to try reading comics for the first time.

Simple
When I first watched this a lot of peoole were talking about it. There seemed to be a lot of hype. I really like Sandra Bullock and did enjoy her acting in this. The story was quite simple really and I loved the suspense throughout. I found that the ending was quite rushed and they could have done more with many of the characters/story line.

David McK (3562 KP) rated Captain of Rome (Masters of the Sea, #2) in Books
Jan 30, 2019
Second novel in John Stacks "Masters of the Sea" series, I have to say I found this one heavier going than the first ("A Ship of Rome").
A possible reason for that, however, might be simply that I was coming to this one straight off the back of one of Simon Scarrows Roman novels, with a somewhat similar setting ("The Eagle's Prophecy" - although that was set in a later part of the Roman Era),

David McK (3562 KP) rated Blade Runner in Books

Be warned: ""Blade Runner, the movie"" this is not!
The novel is a lot deeper and, although there are familiar characters and situations, there's also a lot more going on in the background. What I found as being perhaps the most striking difference in the future (as in the movie) is depicted as being overcrowded and industrialised; here the earth is instead run down and decayed. Both novel and film are enjoyable; each is different.

A fun quick read. Sarcastic and a bit witty not afraid to make fun of itself. Set in Chicago and while it is "present day" i.e. 2000s up electronics and magic don't always get along, Harry at times lives like he's in the 1950s and older.
I found it refreshing that a character could have old fashion values but still for the most part, let a person do the things they need to.
