"Tarkovsky is my hero, and the hero of Russian cinema—a man who found a way to make transcendent, transgressive films that went beyond his political circumstances and captured something far more primordial and enigmatic about the world itself. For this and many other reasons, he’s considered to be one of the great directors in cinema history, which is no small feat for a Soviet artist. If you’re a newcomer to his films, start with Ivan’s Childhood and go from there."

"I listened to it for years and I found myself singing songs from it by default all the time. All the time. And it's something about his delivery. My friend John pointed out probably 20 years ago that he sings like he plays trumpet, not the other way around. It betrays his sensitive delicate self. Somebody who would go hide himself in something as insidious as heroin. Yeah, and just his big fat gentle beating heat – never far from me, I love it."

I struggled with this from early on, it didn't drag me in and tempt me with a good romance or gripping storyline. In fact, up to this point in the story nothing much has happened.

She'd just found out she'd gone from having nothing to pretty much having everything...and I didn't care one bit. That was my cue to give up.

I think with all the good rating I expected it to be better but nah, not for me.

Motherland: Fort Salem is a dark fantasy full of twists and turns to keep you glued to each episode. No one is as they seem and the characters change as the season progresses. It is funny and sad, loving and full of sorrow. Each episode leaves you wanting more ESPECIALLY the last one which keeps you on the edge of your seat!

An absolutely fantastic series I am so happy to have found and I can't wait for season two!
