Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) (2020)

Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn was undoubtedly the best thing in the mediocre 'Suicide Squad'. How you take to her livewire, hyperactive and at times a tad grating character will depend on how much you enjoy this spin off. Luckily I thought there was a good balance of action and humour here and plenty of entertainment to be found in Quinn's amusing narration and her interactions with the other Birds. It's got its faults certainly particularly in Ewan McGregor's hammy over the top villain but it's still worth a watch for Robbie's performance.

The prose of WE SHED OUR SKIN LIKE DYNAMITE is beautiful, thoughtful, and a complicated mess of life.
I fully expected the usual confessional poetry and was pleasantly surprised by the depth of many poems, which touch on subjects such as abortion, sex, and substance abuse. I found the word play interesting and alluring, while occasionally surpassing boundaries I wasn't aware existed. Though it's not my *favorite* collection, it's certainly a cerebral and fluid one, offering up a depth of experience difficult to find in these shallow modern poetic waters.

Rolling Stone's 454th greatest album of all time
A surprising album from the shock-rocker. Some songs are very similar to the Rolling Stones and Bowie, with a definite pomp to them. Others like the brooding and dark Black Juju show more of his emerging style that would become his trademark. Standout tracks are I'm Eighteen and Hallowed Be My Name (which I am convinced I have heard a cover version of but cannot found who did it!). The album closes with an odd rendition of Rolf Harris' Sun Arise for no apparent reason...
