Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated When in Paris... (Language of Love, #1) in Books
Jan 6, 2021
I was expecting for their to be more time spent in Paris--what with the title and all--but it lasted from 49% to 61% which isn't that long and then they were back in the States and their relationship was full steam ahead.
It's a fairly long book and though something seems to be happening all the time I found myself a little...dare I say it, bored? in some places.
I did enjoy it though and the characters were interesting. I'm dying to find out what happens with the other two couples too so I think I'll be buying the next two books when they're available.

I must admit I struggled with the structure of this one. Firstly, like the first it is written in first person, which is always a struggle for me. Secondly, the narrative of this book was split into numerous sections, time, places and narrators (though Jorg was the narrator for the majority) so I sometimes found myself lost as to my placement within said narrative. However, like a five tapestry, as we progressed, the picture became clearer. I believe my perseverance through my confusion actually made the accomplishment of finishing this book all the greater, and I'm excited to see where Jorg will take us next

Not really my cup of tea.
I love period dramas but found this one ho-hum, humdrum. And I don't mean that because of the dull colors of the set and costumes or the squalor of London residents and mill workers. I didn't really feel anything for most of the characters, except for the one suffering from the fatal lung ailment, and really could not get into it. I watched the entire series, though, because I was curious about it but it didn't really connect with me. I have not read the book that this series is based on so my judgment is in ignorance.

It's finally happened...I think....I think I...like these movies
All joking aside, Fast Five is a well paced, and well executed action film. The humble street racing elements of the first few movies have been pretty much dropped at this point. There's a bit where Vin Diesel and his crew are taking down a whole army of bad guys with military grade weapons, and I just found myself thinking "how the fuck did we get here" and you know what? I'm not even mad.
Also, Diesel shouting "THIS IS BRAZIL" right in Dwayne Johnson's inexplicably sweaty bald face is next level unintentionally hilarious and I love it.
