I can't decide if I liked or hated this book - and you can't really review a thriller without giving spoilers - but I thought some parts were predictable (I called one but then it turned out different than I thought) and I called another completely, though it still made for a good book I think 109 chapters in 418 pages was a little much - why all the chapters? I hate that. I didn't much like the side players - Kate was a **insert bad word** and Amy I found to be a bit annoying - I did like the rest though I think the book is made to make you hate people. Overall a decent ride!

I think OCD characters are overdone these days. Whenever I encounter one, I literally cringe.

I was annoyed with the slow progression before I even made it half way through the book. It was rather confusing at times.

I expected a less than reliable narrator given the title, but the misdirection was not executed well and ultimately irritated me.

The plot twists used were not believable. I found myself thinking the storyline was convoluted. Fiction or not, the reader expects believability.

I give 3 stars because although I'm not a fan of the storyline or theme, the author still put out two hundred and forty some odd pages of error free type and tried. Kudos to them for that.

Clever
The book is cleverly told from two different people, at two different times….but their stories are linked in such a way that you just have to keep reading to find out what comes next!

I found myself dreaming of living in One Folgate Street, where one rule is that nothing is lying around – everything is tidy. Well my house isn’t like that but I would love for it to be… but then I enjoy my things around me and I am sure I would find it much more difficult that Emma or Jane did.

Thanks to JP Delaney, Quercus Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read the sampler and the full novel. Highly recommended reading!!

Loved it! Not sure why I didn't pick it up sooner, it's absolutely wonderful! I really enjoyed the cultural details and mythology of Nigeria as well as how the author used physical abnormalities and learning disorders such as albinoism, scoliosis, and dyslexia as an indicator of strong magical abilities. I also thought the characters were well developed and relatable. My only issue was with the climax. There was such a strong buildup for an ultimately underwhelming ending. Overall, I found it to be a wonderful story that fans of Harry Potter will likely enjoy. I can't wait to read Akata Warrior to see what happens next!
*Thanks to First to Read for the arc!*

MoMo’s Book Diary enjoyed C.J. Spammer’s debut novel “Misled” and recommends this as a 5 star read.

I found this an emotional novel. Very gripping. I couldn’t put it down once I started – unfortunately I started reading just before going to bed and I was then up most of the night because even after I had finished the characters and the story stayed with me.

A fantastic book that takes the reader on a rollercoaster journey through the struggles of Sara who is affected by Bipolar Disorder in alternating chapters of now and then – then, being when it all went wrong.

I would like to thank CJ Spammer for the opportunity to read and review this novel.

I found it difficult to choose between 3 stars or 4 stars so I thought I'd be generous. I did enjoy this book but parts of it were a bit frustrating, mainly the lack of intelligence of some of the characters. I believe the story could have been a lot shorter as it was quite drawn out, I did lose interest at one point but as I got back into the story I didn't lose interest a second time. I decided to give this book 4 stars mostly because of the ending. In my opinion the ending was the best part of the book which was packed with action. I highly recommend this book.

I enjoyed this second book in the series more than the first book. Characters develop more and it's easier to relate to them. After reading the first book I was prepared for this one as I knew this was going to be another shocking novel about pleasure slaves and their masters and mistresses. I can say I found this novel more shocking than the first as the characters go into deeper and darker submission in the Village. This novel focuses mainly on Beauty and Tristan finding themselves and trying to discover what they want, it was good to see a more rebellious side to Beauty. I will definitely be reading the last book in the series.

2.5 stars! I was going to give this 2 stars until I got to the end. I just found this so depressing...I am currently pregnant with my first child and I will be a single parent...my first thought was help! I need support! So I picked this up from the library. I must say...if this is what single parenthood is going to be like I am not looking forward to it. There seemed to be no upside to any downsides listed on every page...very one sided.
I gave a 0.5 star for the list of resources at the end of the book, very helpful websites and phone numbers.

The curious lives of elements
Periodic takes is a very interesting book about one man's take on the periodic table of elements. 'The great rift Valley, the field of the cloth of gold, Newton's prism, the Mona Lisa; all impossible without the elements'. This book contains many different stories about the different elements, grounding them into everyday life. It requires little to no scientific knowledge and also includes lots of historical, geographical and cultural context. Personally, I found this book a great read as someone who is about to go to university to study chemistry but I also know of others who have read it and enjoyed it just as much as me.

Love this app, I use it every day. Only issue is the dates. I have been on there liking posts on my timeline thinking it was the most recent one but it was like a few days ago or a repost. Also, I have also found that on the app they sneak in ads that are recommended based on what I like. It gets annoying.
