David McK (3832 KP) rated Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage - Season One in TV

From them, the character of Sheldon Cooper was probably the breakout star.
So much so, that he got his own spin-off in the sitcom 'Young Sheldon', which started airing towards the end of TBBT.
From that, Sheldon's older brother Georgie Cooper had perhaps the best storyline towards the end of its own run.
A storyline that is picked up in this, with Georgie married to Mandy (10 years his senior) and struggling to raise his young family in late 80s, early 90s Texas,
Like Young Sheldon before it, I never found it as laugh-out-loud funny as TBBT - amusing, yes, but not laugh out loud.
I'll still watch more of it.
David McK (3832 KP) rated Predator: Badlands (2025) in Movies

It's also clearly set in the same universe as the AvP movies, although there is no Xenomorph here, with the presence of Weyland-Yutani corporation, who are on the same deadly planet as the Predator himself, who is on his first hunt out to prove himself.
The presence of Weyland-Yutani and the synths gives licence for soem what-would-otherwise-be-incredibly-gory action scenes in the latter half (white, milky, blood) - I did get strong vibes of both 'Avatar' (deadly alien planet) and 'Guardians of the Galaxy' (found family) throughout.

What would you do?
In The Killer's Family we follow the story of the 3 sisters who discovered the devastating evidence and the impact this has on their lives and their relationships with each other and then everything is turned on its head when Gemini strikes again ... and again ...
Who really is Gemini?
This is a dark story with a number of twists that I found riveting and would recommend to lovers of this genre.

Her beau, Roger Gordon, is not just the boring, uninteresting man she thought he was. And her loving and caring father has a secret as well that could destroy his family. In a time when women were practically forbidden to sail...Marguerite falls in love with sailing...and the sailing instructor Trip Andrews. Her fiery spirit gets her into trouble on more than one occasion. And she has a tendency for making waves wherever she goes.
A difficult choice lays before her, will she give up all of her hopes and dreams to save her family? Or will she follow her heart and put her trust in the Lord to work things out.
This book is a very easy quick read. Has some surprises and twists. I enjoy the use of scripture, as well as the lessons of trusting the Lord. I enjoy the time period and the fact that Marguerite tends to go against the flow of what is normal and expected for women in this era.
I found Making Waves at my library. I was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

Where I struggled was the style of writing. Pakhto and Farsi were used in the story, and I found it impossible to understand. Perhaps the end published book will have a glossary to refer to? Even the context where the language was used didn't help me. The family relationships and forms of address were complicates and I really couldn't keep track of who was who (could this be added into a glossary?). Finally, for me, the animal cruelty was pretty difficult to stomach.
Other readers may be able to see past this last point, and a glossary may well be added in the finished, published book, but I'm afraid this is just not for me personally.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book to read and review.
